Australian sales charts, week ending 30/03/07

PALGN News | GT5 Prologue races into the charts. VROOM.
For the fourth consecutive week in a row, we have a brand new number one. It's the mega cash-in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, apparently just sneaking into the full priced charts. You can read whether or not it's worth it right here. Can the series do no wrong in the eyes of the casual fan?

Brain Training continued yet another resurgence, climbing a staggering eight places to end up in second place this week. Standing firm at number three is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo DS, as its Wii brother falls out of the charts. Taking fourth place is the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock double pack on the Nintendo Wii. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare made a return to the top ten, taking fifth by force.

After debuting to the top spot last week, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has found itself in a rather disappointing sixth place - you can read Luke's generally positive thoughts on the game here. Climbing a spot to seven is Mario Party 8 on the Wii, while Super Mario Galaxy fell an unfortunate seven spots to end up at nine. Rounding out the charts is a new entry, God of War: Chains of Olympus, at ten.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

I've got the slight idea that RSV2 didn't sell as well this week because most of the copies from the initial shipment were sold out.

CoD4 PS3 outsells the 360 version.. ouch. And what a disappointment to see Chains of Olympus only debut at 10.. icon_sad.gif

I imagine that COD4 Playstation3 sales have spiked due to people buying a PS3 for GT5 Prologue, and picking up COD4 at the same time with their console.

I was supprised to see GT5 prologue in the charts, not because it didn't sell well, but because Gfk states that the PS3 games have to be over $60 to be included in the charts... GT5p has a RRP of $59.95 ????

Some, I think JB, Target & Big W do. EB and GAME do 2nd hand Xbox 1 titles but don't hold your breath trying to capture say... Street Fighter Anniversary Edition

EB do second hand Xbox titles, but that's only because they don't sell new copies any more. That's what they told me when they sold me a brand new copy of Psychonauts with a pre-owned sticker on it. It shouldn't be too hard to spot an obviously new copy though.

JB also still have limited selections of new XBOX titles.
