This Week's Releases - 7/4/08

PALGN Feature | Codes, creeds and a curious village.
This week, Altair arrives fully upgraded for the PC in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. The stealth action game also makes its portable debut with Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles on the Nintendo DS, a prequel to the PC and console titles.

Coded Arms Contagion for the PlayStation Portable is finally scheduled to hit store shelves this Friday, having been long delayed since last year. The first-person shooter is the sequel to one of the first games to have appeared on the PSP, and like last time, players must jack in to a virtual environment to stop a growing AI threat.

Nintendo also has its share of releases this week, with the turn-based strategy game Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn on the Wii, in which players lead an army of freedom fighters through a world raged by war. The second first-party title on offer is Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the Nintendo DS, the next game set to put your abilities to the test. Players must solve various brainteasers and puzzles as they make their way through the game's story.

Rounding out the week on the Nintendo Wii is Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and Dancing Stage: Hottest Party, which comes bundled with a dancing mat.

Looking forward to Pro Evo 2008 for the Wii. The control scheme looks amazingly innovative! Hopefully Aus version will retain online play also. If you're interested in seeing what I mean, click here.

Professor Layton is the best single-player game on the DS bar none, and everyone should play it.
