PALGN Feature | Grand Theft... Kart?
It’s certainly a big week for Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners, with the release of both Mario Kart Wii and Grand Theft Auto IV a mere five days between each other. Mario Kart Wii is currently the cheapest at Toys ‘R’ Us for $74.99, while Big W are selling it for $76.84. As a side note, if you purchase Mario Kart Wii at EB Games you can get 20% off the official game guide as well as purchase three additional Wii Wheels for $30 – that’s a saving of 50%! Meanwhile, Target, Myer and Toys 'R' Us will be offering the standard edition of Grand Theft Auto IV for $99. If the above stores are a little out of your way, there are more discounts listed below.

Finally, we’d like to remind our readers that the Kmart DVD sale ends this week, so if you’ve been putting off getting a particular game, you may want to purchase it while it’s discounted.

UPDATE: One of our forum members has reported that the EB Games Wii Wheel pack only includes two wheels. They are also the Power Wave brand, which means they are different from the one that is bundled with the game.

3 wii-eels for $30? I like the concept, but does anyone have a source for this? I can't find anything to confirm it online anywhere.

Err, I thought the wheels came bundled with Mario Kart? Why are EB charging for them?

Beside, are people really interested in picking a wheel up? I mean, it's a bit of plastic you stick your Wii-mote into. Not exactly the most riveting peripheral. Just tape a bunch of cardboard rolls together if you want something extra to hold onto.

i wonder if you sticky taped your wii mote to a logitech pc wheel would it work lol ?

EB rang me today and mentioned the 3 for $30 deal. It could be 3rd party Wii wheels though, that I'm unsure of.

Mario Kart Wii comes bundled with the Wii Wheel, but you can purchase additional ones for $19.95.

i sure hope JB or EB match stores that arent inside my local mall

EDIT: actually JB might do what they did for prime and lower their price again so that they have the cheapest price, that was a nice surprise icon_biggrin.gif

Got a call from EB promoting the Wheel promotion, unfortunately I was told it was TWO wheels. I was also told they were Powerwave ones and not the Genuine Nintendo ones.
The Genuine ones are exempt from the 2 for 30, but can be had for $20 each.

I called around to 2 other stores (Forest Hill VIC, Knox VIC) and was told the same thing.

I'm sure alot of people will be using the gamecube controller and EB charges for additional wii wheels cause only one is bundled

I don't doubt that. I've heard the wheel isn't a very effective control method, especially if you were serious about being competitive.

For a bit of fun, yeah it's fine, but I don't understand why anyone would pay for one.

I'm having a Mario Kart Wii night with mates, and we all wanted to use the same control method so there is no advantage... they seemed to like the idea of having the wheel as a novelty, so alas, I have extra wheels.

Of course, if you don't have gaming friends over very often, then it's probably not worth the extra cash!

The Powerwave wheels looked a little flimsy and the wii-mote was centred differently (making buttons hard to hit), so I think I'll stick with Nintendo ones. I'm also not sure that they have the special B button on the back, which is half the point.

While I'm sure that many people think they're silly, small kids (with small fingers) and non-gamers are going to find them easier to understand.

Of course, being in WA means that there's no Mario Kart or wheels today (the silly truck is stuck in SA somewhere).

It sure is. icon_lol.gif

Now that I think about it, I should've packed my wii wheel for Sydney so Alex and I have two :S

I was going to suggest that actually Dani icon_razz.gif

We can always improvise with my 360 steering wheel...

Really? That's odd. The message on my answering machine specifically states 3 wheels. I kind of guessed it would be a third party brand though. I'll update the list and ammend this.
