Don't know how much SSX has evolved in its less than five year lifespan? Read On.
SSX
Year: 2000
Platform: Playstation 2

The original SSX series took the extreme sports genre by storm. As an exclusive Playstation 2 launch title SSX worked extremely well with the layout of the Playstation 2 controller.
Previous titles in the snowboarding genre 1080 snowboarding and Cool Boarders were no match for the original title. SSX was a great blend of "out there" tricks and smooth gameplay. It was the Playstation 2's first killer app.
SSX was also the best launch title for the Playstation 2. It signified the death of the Cool Boarders series and thankfully didn't take itself to seriously.
SSX Tricky
Year: 2001
Platform: Gameboy Advance, Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube

The follow up to the original SSX was none other than SSX Tricky. SSX Tricky was originally titled SSX 1.5 until enough changes were made to release it as more worth while upgrade.
Tracks had been reworked and fine tuned, more characters were included, dvd content was an added bonus and new tricks were added to the mix. Character banter was never better than in SSX Tricky with real life celebrities (such as David Arquette) providing the voices for some of the characters.
SSX Tricky also made the jump from Playstation 2 exclusive to the Xbox, Gamecube and Gameboy Advance. Unfortunately due to the 3D nature of the SSX series, SSX Tricky on the Gameboy Advance is still considered the worst game in the entire franchise.
SSX 3: Out of Bounds
Year: 2003
Platform: Gameboy Advance, Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube

Two years later and another SSX title graces the four main platforms. SSX 3 included extra characters, updated graphics, entirely new courses and a free roaming mountain.
Tricks were even more crazy than before and the courses gave players an extremely great feel of freedom. SSX 3 was also the first SSX title to go online for the Playstation 2.
There was close to no draw-distance in SSX 3 with players literally able to see the entire mountain. An entire run of the mountain could take up to half an hour to complete. Accompanying all of this was a killer soundtrack.
Once again the Gameboy Advance version of SSX 3 was universally panned suggesting the Gameboy Advance doesn't have enough power to take full advantage of SSX's capabilities.
SSX: Out on Tour
Year: 2005
Platform: Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and PSP
SSX makes its fourth appearance with SSX: Out on Tour, The game added a few new things to the series, such as handplants, and featured a story mode that focused on superstars invading your space.
The series also made it's debut on the PSP, in one of the most faithful recreations on a handheld yet, which makes it an incredibly enjoyable title.
