Confirmed attendees include Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, and Alienware. Gamers looking for a bit more of a challenge will even be able to take on Team Immunity or rock out on stage with Guitar Hero.
For those looking for a bit more of a solo experience, titles planned for display and most likely hands-on game-time will include Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, Far Cry 2, and Prince of Persia, some of which will be available to play before they've been released in retail channels.
This year's festival will also be the first to introduce a three-day pass, allowing gamers to take their time to savor the experience until next year.
Speaking more broadly, we also discussed the future of eGames and the IDEF. Peter Barlow, laying out the strategy, said, "We've created the new concept of the international digital entertainment festival, or IDEF... because we see this event growing right across the board into a festival of events. We've already introduced an industry symposium which runs a couple of days before eGames in the auditorium targeted towards the industry and tertiary students in the sector, so we've now got two major events occurring during that period of time."
He continued, "We just see that over a period of time into the future, more events will attach and more activities will go on during that period, and hopefully on a world scale it'll be a time for people to come to Melbourne and really get into the latest in the world of digital entertainment."
Don't forget to mark your calendars - the expo is scheduled for the 14th to 16th of November in Melbourne. The full interview will be available in next week's podcast, scheduled for release next Wednesday.
