Help decide TimeSplitters 4 platforms

PALGN News | Free Radical asks the internet who wants their new game.
Free Radical appears to be unsure as to what consoles the upcoming TimeSplitters 4 should appear on, asking the internet to help decide.

A poll on the company's website is asking which platforms people want to see the game on, giving the options of Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC. There's also an option that suggests Free Radical should make a console itself, should none of those float your boat.

You can place your vote here.

TimeSplitters 4 was announced almost a year ago now, in the form of an incredibly brief teaser trailer, promising to "take the first person shooter to gaming nirvana". Since then, information on the game has been incredibly hard to come by, though this poll gives hope that the game hasn't been forgotten.

Let's just hope it turns out a bit better than Haze.

why cant it just get released on all the consoles?

I'd prefer it to be on one platform, so they can dedicate everything to making sure it is as good as it can get... like Haze.

Or at least the PS3 and XBOX360.

Some people might neg me for saying this, but the Wii really does bring down the standard for cross platform games (if they are out on all 3 'next gen' home consoles).

just hoping they get multiplayer sorted out properly for the ps3 if they release it for ps3/xbox360. Woudn't want to mess up a perfectly good franchise with a botched multiplayer aspect. see tf2 ps3 for examples.

The Wii is still yet to get that FPS it's been crying out for.

because the wii doesn't have the processing capabilities or a decent online network to be worth it.

please god no.. not wii.

if the people that played the original two games moved from the xbox/ps2 to just a wii, its just plain embarrassing.

timesplitters 2 on ps2 best $40 i ever spent on a ps2 game. The ratio of game time to money spent is crazy.

They would have already decided what platform it is going to. TS4 has been, at the very least, in heavy design phase for some time now. Its unlikely they'd be designing a game without knowing what platform for it to hit.

My guess is Xbox360/PS3 as the core version, and a port or spin-off for the Wii.

The former is only relevant if you must have cutting edge visuals for your shooters, and the latter is avoidable (although difficultly).

Free Radical were considerably strong supporters of the GCN last gen, and they have a fanbase there. It would be silly of them to ignore the platform altogether.

Well after the disaster that was Haze i think they OWE it to PS3 users.

And a controller that works for FPS.

EDIT:

@ kaerlis:

It felt alright, but was kind of gimmicky and not as quick, responsive and accurate as you would have thought.

i haven't tried it, but most people tend to think of metroid corruption style wii fps controls as a bonus.

I voted PC.
I want everything on PC.

^now that I have a decent video card, i would tend to agree. But some games are just better on console. --> fps/platformers/guitar hero icon_biggrin.gif

To be, it would be kind of unnautural to play say, little big planet on pc, yet tf2 and cod4 should really be pc only type games

I rather console games any day. Never really been a fan of PC games, will only play a few PC exclusives every so often.

PC gaming is just way too much of a distraction imo, every time I hop onto the PC to play a game I find myself one hour later having been distracted by the internet/msn/whatever. This is why I don't like technology that has tonnes of added features and extras, distracts from the real point. Shame everything is going this way to. Got to give some kudos to the Wii.

make their own console... would be a nice change from just sony, ms and nintendo. 80s and 90s saw alot of different manufaturers of consoles, sure not many survived but you need change, havent seen a new console manufacturer since ms in 2001 with the xbox. I think???

Haha.. I voted PC as well.

EatChildren is correct, they would have internally chosen platforms this far into development (how could their programmers be setting up their engine tech without knowing what they're targeting?) and I'd say 360/PS3 being the most likely. Slight possibility for PC I suppose (they were initially going to do Haze on the PC as well remember..)

With how close this generation is, game developers have to be increasingly crazy to develop solely for one platform.

Well, there are a few. Most likely to become commercial failures though, although good on them for trying.
