This Week's Releases - 22/9/08

PALGN Feature | And the silly season begins.
It appears as though the plethora of holiday releases has begun. First up this week is Ubisoft's WWII shooter Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (check back next week for the PC version). The squad-based game takes place during Operation Market Garden, which was designed to bring a quick end to the war. As Sergent Matt Baker, a member of the famous 101st Airborne Division, players command teams of soldiers to out-shoot and out-flank the oppressive Nazi regime. The third adventure in the franchise, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway boasts several new features, including destructible environments and the ability to take cover in third person. For our impressions of the game, head over to our most recent preview. Wii owners should also look out for Brothers in Arms: Double Time this week.

After being released on all other platforms back in June, SBK: Superbike World Championship makes its way onto PlayStation 3. Rounding out the next seven days for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is the off-road driving title Baja: Edge of Control.

Another shooter landing on shelves this week is Crysis Warhead on PC. From developer Crytek, the game takes place during the events of the original Crysis, but this time from the perspective of Psycho, another of the Delta Force operatives dropped into the brewing conflict.

Those with a Nintendo DS also have plenty to choose from. First, there's the RPG Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood from Canadian powerhouse BioWare (check out our preview here). Second is Lock's Quest: Construction Combat, from the creators of Drawn to Life (for another preview, click here), and third, Drawn to Life: Spongebob Squarepants Edition.

PlayStation 2 owners can pick up the latest SingStar game Hottest Hits, featuring the likes of Sam Sparro's Black and Gold and Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars, and Yakuza 2. PC players also have plenty to look at this week, with Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization, Bully: Scholarship Edition and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

Finally, SimCity Creator, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension and de Blob are released on Nintendo Wii. If you would like to come to the launch party for de Blob in Melbourne this Thursday and mingle with some of the fine PALGN journalists, enter for your chance to win here.

I'm boycotting crysis warhead due to the evils of it's steam release (keeps the retail version activation limit/drm and over pricing). But I might pick up bully on PC icon_smile.gif

Nooooooooo, PC version of Brothers in Arms delayed to next week!?!?! Guess I'll have to go with the 360 version icon_sad.gif

Skiller, where did you read that Warhead has the DRM on Steam?

Also, pretty good week for the Wii. I'll most likely pick up de Blob.

Ive got de Blob pre-ordered in conjunction with Lego Batman. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition? Yes please! Put me down for Warioland: Shame Dimension too.

God.. when will it stop!?!?!

What about Brothers in Arms on the Wii? I have heard nothing about this game. Is it really coming out? Are there any previews for it?

Gah! Didn't realise that de Blob was coming out this week.

I've started slowing down on purchases, but really want this as it look like it'll be a blast (and being Australian made helps).

I can't wait for Wario Land. I loved the GameBoy Wario Lands, and from what I've heard the Wii game is a nice homeage to those games.

And Samba de Amigo next week!

Sadly, it looks like Sonic Chronicles and de Blob will have to wait a while. icon_sad.gif

Either de Blob or Wario for me this week. The sub $70 pricetags for both are fantastic, I'm just not sure on which I'll go with yet.

EDIT: Oh and Megaman 9 should be this week. I'll probably grab that too.

So does anyone know what exactly has happened to Tales of Vesperia for 360? I've heard that the release date could be the 26th or 30th of this month but I've also heard that Europe isn't getting the game till 2009, can anyway confirm what the status of the games arrival is?

Considering I have the day off today that may have just made my decision for me.

Please post your feedback in this thread after you play it today (because I know you will icon_wink.gif)

Sorry, but went down there and they had Wario as well, so I ummed and ahhed and decided that since I'm not at Uni this week and Wario is supposed to be short, I should hopefully be able to breeze through that first, return it in 7 days, and then go for some de Blobbing.

Wario is sexy though.

Warioland is pretty good. Got it today

Opoona!

What the? I didn't realise that was out this week. God dammit! I'll have to grab that one too.
