Fallout 3 patch coming

PALGN News | Patch for all three platforms in the works now.
Quick news over at Gaming blog Qj.net with Bethesda currently planning a patch for all versions of Fallout 3; hopefully planned to resolve complaints by some players with reports of serious bugs and graphical glitches.

Posted on the Bethesda official forums, a community manager said "We are currently working on a patch for all three platforms. When I've got more details, I'll let everyone know." Not much to go on, but the knowledge that it's indeed in the works now should hopefully mean the wait won't be much longer.

Might wait till the patch before I buy it....

By far the buggiest version is the 360 one, so if anything needs working its that. And lets hope with this "patch" comes trophy support for PS3 as well.

I was told the PS3 one was the buggest, matters not I guess. I've yet to come across anythng bar one barrel that randomly flung into the air icon_smile.gif

I don't think the PS3 version is any more buggier than the other versions, it just has the incredibly annoying friends list/message glitch.

I have come across plenty of bugs in the PC version as well. All versions are buggy from the sounds of things.

Patch smatch. Release the **** editor Bethesda. The mods made Oblivion what it is and the same will happen with Fallout 3.

Hope they fix it so you can use anti-aliasing without it causing the PC version to crash...

You mean there's not going to be radscorpions half in the ground and radroaches completely under debris anymore?

awwww.

I've experience my fair share of glitches in the PC version so far, mostly simple things like z-fighting and collision issues (angry mirelurks getting stuck in rocks while chasing me? That's a bug I'm willing to keep!) which are par for course in such a huge and detailed open world game. Have just started getting the odd massive graphics glitch, a few crashes, and (most annoyingly and more and more frequent) my favourite: the 'we'll pop you back to the desktop for 20 seconds and then return you to the game' - particularly aggravating during desperate firefights with enraged centaurs and Supermutant brutes.

Glad to know a patch is in the works - but I'd be a hell of a lot more happy to know around about when we could expect it.

The only problem i faced was at the start of the main mission how i had to meet that guy in the pub to ask him about my father. He was never to be found and the arrow said to go out of megaton as soon as i went out it told me to go into megaton and kept on doing it. Luckly i killed gob he gave me a key to a locker which gave me a key to the pc and got the info. It pissed me off because i thought i would have to start again.

I'd like to know what game people are playing... I played the 360 Fallout 3 for 40 hours and did almost every single sidequest and I did not encounter any problems or crashes whatsoever except getting stuck on a rock twice.

Seriously, what are you guys doing to have all these problems? O_o

Now if we want to talk about SERIOUS and GAME BREAKING bugs, we need to look at Far Cry 2. By one of the radio towers in the north area there is a tiny rock on a hill that has a flashing shadow all day long. THE GAME SHOULD BE RECALLED! O_O

The only annoying bug is that in The Temple OF Union there is a bug that means you can't fast travel in it or 100M of it.

Heres a list of bugs I have with the PC version.

Random crashing during and even when starting the game, It will just freeze and I have to go to the control panel to end it's process to fix it,

There was also a glitch where during the mission when the monk guy tells me about the other vaults to the GECKS and the point tells me the guy is somewhere far away from the citadel and I found a cheat to take me to him and it warped me to a place where him, elder lyons and some random NPC were in this empty area where all I could see was the ground and sky, no objects around. It was just an empty realm nowhere in the game.

I have also been getting the glitches with clipping and enemies stuck in the ground too. I really hope the patches get rid off these glitches because it's seriously screwing up the game and ruining it for me. icon_sad.gif

I've heard the opposite, the PS3 and/or PC version is the most buggy. It was on Kotaku. Some people even have trouble trying to get the PC version to start.

But this is a worrying trend. Back in the 90s console games were hardly ever buggy or glitchy. Now we're often praying that the developers find it in their heart to retrospectively patch games, after we've paid our money. It's a goddamn farce.

I find it sad that a lot of people are so focused on these "glitches". Its ruining the rep of a really good game.

I have the PS3 version and apart from a few minor, NON-GAME PLAY AFFECTING errors where the occasional Radroach would be stuck under some rocks I have yet to encounter said game-fatal bugs.

I have sunk countless hours into that beautiful masterpiece and find it disappointing that it would be discredited due to a few minor errors.

And seriously, if you buy an Xbox, you should expect it not to run properly.

Way to play the anti-MS card, just had to slip that one in there at the end. Well, at least you can rest easy tonight knowing that you've done your bit to slag off a company who doesn't even know your name.

As far as the rest of your post goes, I've only encountered minor bugs in Fallout III but I still don't think it's the bee's knees, the game is really boring me and it seems to lack any variety whatsoever. It always feels like I'm going in somewhere, killing stuff, finding x item, taking it back to x person. The characters have absolutely zero personality so I couldn't give a rats bollocks about any of them, the character skills affecting the World around you is damn near non-existant and your choices at the start don't really affect anything in the grand scheme of things because it is piss easy to increase your stats with every level up (stupidest idea EVER) so there's no playing through the game and wondering "what if..." I had gone for charisma instead of intelligence, or focused on agility rather than endurance. The RPG aspects of the game are laughable at best.

Is it a good game, yes. Is it a beautiful masterpiece, unfortunately not, and it seems no one has the balls to actually admit this.

But hey, subjectivity and all that, so enjoy away, I'll probably get back to it when I can be bothered.

i saw my friend playing this on ps3, looked like a pretty cool game except the edges of the buildings were made up of weird lines, not smooth edges, is this to do with anti-aliasing? i'm not too great with graphical lingo.

on xbox 360 my glitchs are getting worse since I completed the game and went to finsih my achievements from a previous save.

includes to date,
broken quests(people not at locations specified on markers) and no I haven't killed them.

Flying people and monsters. people hovering from 3 feet to 100 feet off the ground. some monsters also levitating into the sky upon death.

fall through mountains.

Displaced monsters.

enemies stuck in rocks, me stuck in rocks.

flickering rocks.

All in all though nothing that stopped me beating the game. Shame the main plot is so linear. Glad I didn't finish the main quest till close to 20th level otherwise I wouldn't have gone back to finish off my side quests.

I thought it was pretty arse. Traded it in after a week and bought Banjo Kazooie wich has been rocking my socks.

I might buy it again when it's cheaper and give it another shot but I'm not paying more then 40 bucks for it.

Personally I can't believe folks actually finished Fallout 3.

I was hoping for more gamers, especially the Yanks to critics Bethesda for releasing an unfinished product.

Fallout 3 bugs are a disgrace. The game constantly crashed for me that I couldn't put up with it any more and tool the game back at EB.

Yet this is a game with 90% and more average from reviewers. Its pathetic. If Fallout 3 was movie it would have been slammed by reviewers and gotten lower scores.

Its really disappointing having a game so buggy after paying US60/40pounds/AU90 of your hard earned cash. Its unacceptable.

It seems the trend these days from many devs is to make 80% of a completed game and release it. Then put up the rest of the finished product as DLC or patches.

Oh yeah I forgot I have to agree with Sin Ogaris. They made it way to easy to be master of all skills.
By level 20 I had almost maxed my skills and stats. The only ones I never touched were unarmed and melee ( who brings a knife to a gun fight?)

So there is no incentive to go back and play through a second time like I would normally in an RPG. Also the solutions to all puzzles was always the same, either pick it or hack it, picking could be tough, but the hacking thing gave you infinite goes as long as you logged out on try three.

I was really hoping that you could play differently based on your choices such as once you play as a gunslinger then you play as a negotiator then as a sniper, sadly I was master all of those things, I didn’t need to think my way through any problems as my skill set ensured I was good enough to beat anything in whatever manner I saw fit. And even on those where my skill was low ( heavy weapons) I still managed to do well enough that I never felt disadvantaged.

Shame it was so close to a great game but I think they tried to please everyone

Havent seen a single bug in the 360 version.I sorta agree with sin though, needs to be more a bit more varied and your choices need focus.

One thing that irks me no end is when your on a current quest(say replicated man) and you talk to randoms in a city and out of the blue you talk to one guy and a speech option is available, something along the lines of 'so i hear you know the truth behind this android(or something).I check my quest log and this guy i'm talking to is not mentioned as a person of interest either.

How did i even know this guy new anything about the andoird to be able to ask the question anyways? Why didn't i ask the ten other people or so before this guy the same question?

Still having trouble with the hacking mingame, that's balls hard, or i'm balls stupid.Avg is hard, can't imagine what very hard would be like *gulp*

chalk up another "No bugs encountered X360 player".

i would certainly be annoyed at some of the issues people have come across, but haven't had any of these issues personally.
i think the closest i've had is a rag-doll "bug" where an NPC killed enemy was blown from behind me and landed, with a thud, in front of me. it was a group of NPC BoS guys who killed the mutated Bear (in this instance) but i didn't even know where they were, so the sight of a flying bear carcass was more amusing than irritating. and given the arsenal the BoS were carrying, not wholy unexpected.

i also don't think there'll be as much replayability as previous Fallout games, but i'm still loving it.

actually, the quest progression issue that Jibbs mentions is probably considered a bug, and something that should be addressed.
some quests make sense that elements can be skipped. i mean the central quest to find your dad, if you skip past GNR direct to Rivet City, then it's understandable that someone might recognise me randomly, but the replicated man quest is one that i had too - where i was told something and wondered why i should've been talking to that someone at all.
