No Aussie delays for Capcom titles

PALGN News | Publisher promises all Aussie releases will be unaffected by Red Ant's receivership.
With news reaching us a few days ago that Australian games distributor Red Ant had entered receivership, many gamers panicked that planned Midway, Konami, Besthesda and Capcom releases would be delayed. Thankfully, Capcom have promised there will be no delays for their February/March releases, namely Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop and Resident Evil 5.

Speaking to CVG, a spokesperson for Capcom Europe squashed rumours that delays for Australia were imminent.

"Certain recent news reports have speculated that owing to the financial status of Red Ant, Capcom's distributor in Australia, that the release dates of Capcom's forthcoming titles in this territory may be delayed," the company said in a statement. "Capcom would like to state it does not expect any such delays..."

The statement continued by reconfirming the following release dates:
  • Street Fighter IV (PS3 & 360) - February 20th
  • Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (Wii) - February 27th
  • Resident Evil 5 (PS3 & 360) - March 13th
Capcom also noted that MotoGP for the Wii and Neopets Puzzle Adventure for the DS, Wii and PC were also scheduled to be released in a similar time-frame to other PAL territories.

In related news, Konami also revealed that they would be unaffected by Red Ant's collapse. While the publisher had reached an agreement with Red Ant to distribute their games in Australia last year, the contract wasn't scheduled to commence until next month. In other words, it looks like Atari will continue to act as their distributor until further notice.

It will...but it will probably be delayed...like every other Capcom PC port. The only bonus it that the game will look nicer and probably have more characters than the console versions out of the box. Bad thing is the multi-player is probably gonna suck(Which also would apply to the PC port port of RE5, if that does indeed exist)

^ What makes you think that multi will suck? If anything, it should be better than xbox/ps3 versions. In addition, there are various drivers you can download to enable xbox/ps3 controllers/fighting sticks to be used. As you mentioned, it probably will look nicer and hopefully have more characters/bonus features. I'd definitely wait for a pc port over rushing out to get the console version.

And Re5 on pc could work. I mean I dont really see how it wouldn't. I have RE4 on pc and it works fine..that being said, I use my ps2 or xbox 360 controller to play.

In addition, after spending some time making up your sig, I'm actually more interested in Tatsunoko vs Capcom than sf4 icon_razz.gif Wish they had a ps3 version ;___;

I don't mean technically wise, but community wise. There just won't be many people playing the pc version(In the case of SFIV,might apply with RE5 only because almost everyone who wants it will purchase it on a console - One of my friends who wants RE5 doesn't have a PS3 or 360.He does have a wii though -_-)

haha bout TvC, I like it mainly because it plays in the style of the cross-over game(fast, supers being over the top, etc). That and it having more than just SF characters.

Capcom has a terrible reputation for PC ports, so don't get your hopes up too high there. Although word is Devil May Cry 4 wasn't suffering from the usual problems, so maybe they've cleaned their act up.

I wouldn't make any assumptions about PC communities: there's a lot of people with PCs who are VERY active gaming online.

Sure does Grim-one i still remember Resident Evil 4 on the pc sounded great except they didn't have mouse support icon_sad.gif......

^The version I have does include mouse support with the newest patch they released. Also cleans up the textures a bit. Though still, even WITH a mouse the controls seem weird and you cant re-map them. So RE4 (pc) is definitely something you need a controller for when playing on pc icon_razz.gif

Capcom PC ports these days are actually ok because Capcom themselves are actually making them now(DMC4,Lost Planet). Resident evil 4 and Devil may cry 3 SE were actually made by Ubisoft...which is why they were crap. The Ubisoft ports were just direct ports of the PS2 version with an added Screen Resolution option icon_confused.gif The Capcom made ports are ok because it feels more like a PC game(The ability to change all graphics options - AA,Vsync ,Change the controls, etc). The only problem is that the menus of the Capcom ports are littered with XBOX 360 controls (They're under the GfW group icon_confused.gif),Ubisoft Ports:Generic gamepad controls. I know cause i've got almost all the Capcom ports except for the original LP.

About my assumption about PC community, i don't mean in general but with these 2 games. They will probably have a rather small community because almost everyone who wants it will have purchased it on a console unless the "bonus" features for the PC versions have been announced which makes holding off a good idea or they don't have a PS3 or 360(Like my mentioned friend).

Also, I want a MvC2 arcade cabinet....Playing it on an emulator where it runs way too fast ain't really fun. Last time i played MvC2 on a cabinet was when i was in Malaysia around this time last year. I miss Malaysia *sob*

^ agreed. Nothing beats the real thing in a real arcade where you verse total strangers. A true test of skill where you can smell the fear of your opponent. The joysticks and buttons also add to the experience. The last time i saw a MvC machine was over.. 8 years now. Still have fond memories of it. Venom + Spiderman ftw.
