Australian sales charts, week ending 18/01/09

PALGN News | Wii Play, Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, etc.
Seriously people, this is getting boring now. The top three games in Australia this week are exactly the same they have been for the past few weeks and most of last year. The Wii remote - bundled with Wii Play is still holding onto the top slot, while Wii Fit swapped places with Mario Kart Wii. Shockingly, there's a new game at number four - and it's an Xbox 360 game at that. It's Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which makes a refreshing change from the norm. Unfortunately, it is rather short-lived, with DS heavyweight Brain Training moving in right behind it at five.

Dropping two places is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games at six, still selling strong despite being totally irrelevant. Lord of the Rings: Conquest makes another appearance in seventh place, though this time it is on the PlayStation 3. To keep the deja vu theme going is More Brain Training at eight, followed closely by the DS version of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games at nine. Wrapping up the charts for us this week is PS3 blaster Resistance 2, back into the charts after a brief hiatus.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

Glad to see Galaxy still charts on the Wii. It's a must-have for everyone.

I feel so sorry for those suckers that bought Bond though.

Bond was quite an enjoyable 5 hours of gameplay. Just played through it yesterday.

Still its good to see those genres in the Wii top ten. Shooters do actually sell to that audience

Basically, as long as people are buying wiis in droves, then the top sellers (the play, fit, etc) are there cause they're staples of what people actually buy the wii for, or want to have with their wii..
