First Metal Gear Solid Touch trailer revealed

PALGN News | MGS4 x Shooting + ???? = Profit?
Gametrailers.com have posted the debut trailer for Snake's latest outing, Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The trailer seems to indicate that the game is a port of Metal Gear Solid 4, rather than an expansion, covering many of the same events and locations of the PlayStation 3 game.

The trailer shows Snake engaging in combat with Gekko, FROGS, those multiple-armed probe things, Metal Gear RAY, Raging Raven, Laughing Octopus and Crying Wolf. The manner of gameplay seems to be similar to a standard arcade shooter, with Snake taking position at the bottom of the screen and the player shooting at enemies from a static perspective. There also seemed to be some other types of gameplay, such as a hand-to-hand fight with Liquid Ocelot. The graphics seem to be fairly impressive for the iPhone as well, although the not-so-smooth frame-rate may suggest that sprites may be in use instead of 3D models.

You can find the trailer by following this link.

Out of curiosity, what's the ???? Profit thing come from? I see it everywhere on the internet (and by everywhere, I mean most gaming sites/forums), and have no idea what it is.

The animation of Snake looks very dodgey when he's moving from side to side.. Still, graphics are nice..

Can't say its going to make me want an ipod touch/phone any more/less cause that game is on it.. Still, for those with the phones, hope its fun for you..

Its looks ok, about as good as an iPod could do really.

People who think the iPod/iPhone rivals the DS or PSP in gaming are out of their mind.

The controls always let down the game simply because the touch screen isn't half as responsive as the DS and even if it was, your hands get in the way of the action without a stylus.

Since it is coming from Kojima it should at least be worth the purchase and a play through, so I will be there. I brought brothers in arms for the iphone and once you get used to the control scheme it wasn't half bad.

I am hoping Kojima is working on a new game for his other project.

Ah-ha. A sprite based 2D plane shooting gallery style game. Really, Kojima? You've got to be taking the piddle.

I'll stick to the free ones you can find all over the internet.

Made under Kojima Productions. Thankfully not directed by Kojima himself. Hideo love
