This Week's Releases - 16/3/09

PALGN Feature | Grand challenges of the musical and wrestling variety.
This week, Grand Theft Auto goes portable, making its debut on the Nintendo DS with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Using the DS touch screen, players can make their way through a modern-day version of Liberty City. For the complete low-down on the game, check out hands-on preview. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is scheduled to arrive on store shelves this Friday, and our review will be published around the same time.

A number of musical and trivia games will be released over the next seven days, first with Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades on Nintendo DS. The second DS Guitar Hero title will be available as a standalone game and in a bundle with the guitar grip controller. SingStar Queen takes the stage on PS2 and PS3, with a track list featuring classics like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Another One Bites the Dust’. Not to be left out, those with an Xbox can pick up the second Scene It title, Box Office Smash!

The next wrestling game vying for our attention (and dollars) is WWE Legends of Wrestlemania on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Our recent preview of the game can be read here. Next up, the hardened soldiers of the US Navy SEALs take the battle online in the PlayStation 3's SOCOM: Confrontation, which finally sees a PAL release.

Beautiful ladies slaying zombies? Well, that's exactly the premise of Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers on Xbox 360 and Wii. Anyone with a PlayStation Portable can lead the colourful Patapons to victory with a mix of rhythm and action in Patapon 2, and finally, PC owners can take to the skies in Tom Clancy's HAWX.

Is anyone going to actually BUY that? More to the point, has anyone even heard of it until now?

^ I've heard of it. On X-Play's "Made in Japan" segment iirc.

I had, and I was excited until I saw this review: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/46219.html

Apparently its nothing but a cheap non-stop wagglefest. Lucky this game sucks, otherwise it would be a leading cause of RSI

If you want a good Wii game, MadWorld comes out next week icon_biggrin.gif

Legends of Wrestlemania has been released early. It is out as of today.

Onechanbara is a remake of a PS2 game, its about as good or better than Dead Rising wii but thats not saying much.

T-ts and ass but game mechanics are just waggle, alot of waggling instead of pressing buttons.

MADWORLD is the correct answer renegade. Hype mag just gave it 9 dead chainsaw victims out of 10

Even the Onechanbara movie is meant to suck, and not in a good japanese bikini B grade zombie killing way either

MADWORLD comes out on the 26th i believe. Jesus, we have to wait forever

Pod EDIT: 3 posts consolidated into one.

Yesterday, I grabbed Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades and it's brilliant. Thanks to finding a gift card at home which had a $60.05 value on it I am able to grab that AND GTA Chinatown Wars this week.

GHOT: Decades is really fun, I don't know if it's just me but the grip seems made for even smaller hands this time. It's still prone to slipping out but my first playthrough is always on Easy - then I work my way up the scale - so I've been able to use my other two fingers to press it lightly to the DS. Has anyone with large hands had problems on higher difficulty settings? At least you can access all the songs on Easy.

Chinatown Wars looks like the best DS action game ever - it's good to see how much touchscreen functionality there is and I know I'll be whistling for a taxi every time! icon_smile.gif
