This Week's Releases - 23/3/09

PALGN Feature | A big week for gaming.
This week, Sony breaks the software drought on the PlayStation Portable with Resistance: Retribution. Set between the two PlayStation 3 games of the same name, players battle their way across Europe as British Marine James Grayson, destroying all things Chimeran in their path. Developed by Sony Bend, the studio behind the two excellent Syphon Filter PSP games, the latest Resistance title takes place from a third-person perspective, with surprising good results. For our complete review of the game, click here. Resistance: Retribution battles its way into stores this Thursday.

There are several multi-platform releases in the pipeline over the next seven days. First up on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC is Stormrise, which hopes to lay to rest the debate over whether strategy games can truly work on consoles. Vin Diesel burns some serious rubber in The Wheelman, also on 360, PS3 and PC. Next, players can experience the history of videogames through the eyes of industry veteran Matt Hazard in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, a third-person shooter scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on Thursday (more info can be found here from eGames 2008). The PlayStation 3 and PC versions of Silent Hill: Homecoming can also be found on store shelves this week (Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until April).

After a late delay last week, Scene It? Box Office Smash is released on Xbox 360. PlayStation staple Buzz also has a new title on the cards, with the Australian-flavoured quiz game Buzz: Brain of Oz arriving on PSP, PS2 and PS3.

Black and white slasher MadWorld (our review of the game will be available shortly) and an updated version of Mario Power Tennis come to the Nintendo Wii, while Commander and Conquer: Red Alert 3 earns its own PlayStation 3 iteration. PC gamers can put their strategy skills to the test with Codename Panzers: Cold War and Tom Clancy’s EndWar. Finally, and rather surprisingly, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix was just confirmed for release on Nintendo DS and PC this Friday.

Unless I am seriously mistaken, Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness is only for the DS. A google search will only bring up PALGN with information on this game as a wii title; every other site lists it as a DS title.

Blue Dragon Plus is confirmed then?

I have asked around at EB and they don't have a date for it. Then again, they might be stupid. :S

Oh look, Australia finally gets Scene It: Box Office Smash.

Been hanging for this game but gonna need to read a bit more about the online multiplayer before grabbing it, as I'm the only one at my place playing games at the moment.

All i'm buying is "The Pitt"...OMG its out tomorrow!

Hell yeah for MadWorld. That game is going to rock my face off. I hope it does anyway.

Madworld for me and possibly the Fallout 3 DLC.

I may look into Blue Dragon Plus as well.

Hmmm, I'm still undecided on The Wheelman, it looks cool. I should probably dl the demo and wait on reviews just in case though. Is it definitely out this week? For some reason it's not showing up on EB's website...

I'm also interested in RA3, but I'll just wait for the PC version to go down in price, unless the PS3 version really is "ultimate". Same with Resistance. I might just wait for that to go platinum, I've got too many other games to plow through.

Can anyone confirm a sighting of Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard for Xbox 360 or Blue Dragon Plus for NDS? Both are meant to be out this week, but no stores near me had them.
