POTW: More GTA?

PALGN Feature | Or time for Rockstar to strike a new chord?
So, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is out. You've read the review, and maybe you've picked it up, maybe you haven't.

Wait a minute, so this makes it number ten in the series right ... or is it thirteen? Do the expansion packs count?! Well either way it's a lot.

That's not to say Rockstar Games hasn't been doing anything else - they've made some other great games sure - but do you think they should be focussing on other (new) titles or do you just want more and more GTA mayhem?

With the inevitable rumours of GTA 5 flying around, tell us, are you over Grand Theft Auto?

They could make 100 of these games and I'd still be interested, as long as they keep the stories fresh and the settings vibrant.

I could do with some more GTA - for sure - (after I finish 4 which I havent touched for approx 2 months as I cant succeed in any of the missions available to me... icon_sad.gif

As long as they keep it fresh I'm all for it. Would like to see some more variation in gameplay and less of a emphasis on realism for the next one.

I loved GTA2, missed GTA3, bought GTA4 based on expectation and it turned out to be the least fun I've had with any game I actually bought. I ended up trading it in with about 6 missions remaining. I tried to complete it, but just couldn't bring myself to face playing any more... count me out from here on in.

I want them to make another one with the scale of GTA: SA that game is epic!! The thing GTAIV missed was some country side!!

Bring back things like sky diving and mountain biking but throw in some variations like scuba diving (or something similar). Fix the driving a bit, I want to drift around the corners without losing my speed, what's up with that???

I've loved GTA since the first one, but GTA4 was just blah for me. They drowned it in next-gen sauce to try to cover up the fact it was just a reheated last-gen GTA steak from the freezer. Shiny new graphics and new gimmicks in the game don't cover up the stale and clunky gameplay.

GTA like GTA4? Hell no. GTA like any past GTA that isn't GTA4? Hell yeah. CTW is awesome.

My thoughts exactly. I have managed to get 100% on all of them I just like playing them.

i'm keen for more.

the ONLY thing i'd change in GTA4 was having to keep your mates happy by driving them around places. i wouldn't mind if it were an optional thing (i mean, i know it is optional, but what i mean is you call them, they don't call you - unless it's plot related), but having to maintain them got annoying pretty quick.

TLAD changed it to optional, and it was better for it.

but, they tried something different, which was respectible, it just didn't work out all that great (imo). i didn't really like GTA:SA's RPG-like stat system either, but it was something to try.

The day they kill off GTA is the day I pack in gaming.

What I'd like to see is the story of IV, mixed with the scale and environmental variety of SA, mixed with the upbeat fun of VC, set in London or Tokyo. **** dealers or Yakuza please.

Honestly at this point I'd be way more intrested to hear about a new Saints Row then I would a new GTA.

Needs more of the game show vibe from GTA1. It's why I prefer Crackdown to GTA4.

2nded, I miss all the unrealistic bonuses from 1 and 2 like the electric fingers that shocked everyone you touched, and the instant gang, and the car crushers that spat out bonuses and weapons.

I've never been the biggest GTA fan, but I an loving CTW atm.

Yeh i lost interest during number 4. Didn't like the characters at all, hated the dull scenery. That said i usually love GTA games and while the formula isnt really broken - this one just didnt touch me in my happy place.

I look forward to the next one and I will once again buy the special edition and will line up at midnight to get it, oh yeah and take the next day off work to play it.

Ditto.

Having said that though, multiplayer helicopter wars was **** epic!

It's interesting how this question is being asked but no similiar question for Final Fantasy, Mario, Zelda etc?

As for the question, I am definitely not over GTA and can't wait for the 2nd expansion for GTAIV, I'm hoping it's the Mafia this time.

It would be a redundent question, serioulsy how many fans of those serises are going to say no to more?

If they keep coming out with crap like GTA4, then I hope they shrivel up and die.

That said, Chinatown Wars slightly makes up for it, but was still pretty average.

I am a fan of those series and I would say no to more. Final Fantasy crapped itself long ago, Mario is on his way out, old age does that to you, and most Zelda games past Wind Waker sucked, not to mention Spirit Tracks looks worse then the rash on my left (and only) testicle.

Both London or Tokyo sound like awesome ideas to me! Mind you GTA IV was the first time I really got into a GTA game so I'm still very much hungry for more! icon_biggrin.gif

Mafia would be good, as would more of the Irish, but i'd also really like to see a GTA story from the perspective of a cop. it'd be tough, considering it'd change a lot of the dynamic of the core elements of the game's gameplay, but considering TLAD pretty much made stealing cars redundant (sans a few missions) i reckon it could be done.

if it did happen, it'd probably end up being a bent cop, but that'd be cool too.
