Australian sales charts, week ending 03/05/09

PALGN News | More Nintendo.
The top half of the charts is completely clogged with old Nintendo games this week - but hey, what else is new? Wii Fit is perched on its throne in first place, with Wii Play jumping up and down right behind it. The Brain Training games made a real push to get to the top of the charts, but ultimately fell short, with the first game finishing the week in third place, followed by the sequel, More Brain Training, at four. Completing the all-Nintendo top five is the ever-popular Mario Kart Wii, holding onto its position from last week.

Surprise DS hit Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force fell three places, ending up in sixth place. Finally, at seven, non-Nintendo consoles start to get a look in, thanks to the the PS3 adaption of Hollywood blockbuster film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. SingStar: Queen fell a rather painful four spots to close in eighth, with the Xbox 360 edition of Wolverine finishing just behind it in ninth. The surprisingly robust Killzone 2 rounds out the charts this week in tenth place, having snuck back in yet again.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

There are still people that don't have Wii Play and Wii Fit? You'd think by now everyone with a Wii in Australia would have them.

Thats the thing, people keep buying wiis. They then have to buy the 'must have' games, eg Wii Play, Wii Fit, Mario Kart.

Looks like the PS3 is really starting to take over from the 360 now this generation. I think thats the thrid or fourth multiplatform game in a row in the recent couple of months that has consistently sold more on the PS3.

more Nintendo? Of course, Nintendo owns all of you forever. No amount of jealousy or veiled cynicism will mask the reality, Nintendo is back on top.

Still HOTD is surprisingly hanging in there. Why Madworld couldn't survive like HOTD could is the real problem, the Wii is already over saturated with on rails.
