Australian sales charts, week ending 24/05/09

PALGN News | More new blood.
After securing the top slot last week, Pokemon Platinum has managed to retain first place for two successive weeks - quite a rare feet in the Wii Fit era. The new blood continues in second place, with EA's foray into the world of electronic fitness products, EA Sports Active, making its rather sweaty debut. The PlayStation 3 gets a look in next, with UFC 2009: Undisputed punching, kicking and grappling its way into third place. Meanwhile, the usually dominant Wii Fit and Wii Play have been left reeling, dropping to fourth and fifth place respectively.

UFC 2009: Undisputed makes a rather violent second appearance for the week in sixth place, this time on the Xbox 360. Chart mainstay, the dashing Mario Kart Wii, is omnipresent in seventh place, while Brain Training, down a few spots from last week, is still hanging around at eight. Oh, and it's younger brother, More Brain Training, is right behind it at nine. Rounding out the charts in tenth place is the re-entering PS3 shooter Killzone 2, simply refusing to go away.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by those wonderful people at GfK.

Look at the amount of Sims 2 titles in the PC Chart. 6 in the top 10. Talk about market saturation.

I really don't understand it either. Sims 3 comes out next month which will include all of the stuff from these games and more. (If your lucky enough you have it already)

@sims2 discussion. Well thats the pull of casual gaming isn't it. It was a great buy for EA.

Yea that would explain why it has a title defense mode, thats kicking the asses of all core gamers, and the fact its rated 9 to 10's almost everywhere.

Why do you troll Wii, bcoz its easy to?

Don't our local 'charts' only factor in retailers like the big department stores (Target, Myer, Big W, etc).. In which case the Sims games are almost the only games they actually stock for the PC :D

I didn't think they had access to actual game retailers sales data (eb, game, etc).

How is saying a game is 2 hours long trolling? He never said the game was bad or anything.

Thats just what I heard on Invisble Walls. I've never played the game so I'm not gunna judge

@Benza, its cool. Well its obviously not an objective source bcoz many give it 5hrs which doesn't include the title defense mode (basically hard difficulty).

There tends to be a list of excuses (especially regarding wii games) and that particular game length complaint was one commonly used against Madworld.

All you need to know is its getting great reviews, better than Bionic Commando and some have compared it to Mario Galaxy in terms of its dev. quality.
