Brutal Legend legal battle settles

PALGN News | Rocktober release on track.
As we reported earlier this week , lawyers for publishing-giant Activision and Double Fine Productions were ready to battle it out in court over the publishing rights to Brutal Legend, the heavy-metal-inspired adventure game starring Jack Black.

Activision were set to argue on August 6 that the release of the game by Electronic Arts should be delayed until the determination of the legal issues. Now, the Associated Press is reporting that the parties have settled their differences and that the game's forthcoming release in October will remain unaffected.

Los Angeles Superior Court spokesperson Vania Stuelp reportedly stated that lawyers for Activision notified the court of the agreement, leading to the cancellation of the hearing. All of the above is, of course, good for gamers eager to sample the anticipated game, scheduled for release on October 16 for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

There isn't a publisher out there that earns more contempt than Activision, especially their CEO Mr "I dont want titles that we cant exploit every year" (yes he used the word exploit).

Funny how they jumped publisher after Activision tried to kill it, after that Activision tried to sue to try and kill it.

Excellent news, Always good to see fresh IP's with fresh ideas, and this one looks really original so far, would have been a real shame if this had been killed.
