Australian sales charts, week ending 20/09/09
PALGN News | Can the mighty Guitar Hero or the once-mighty Need for Speed dethrone the Wii games?

After two months at the top, Wii Sports Resort has been pushed down to second place in the charts. The new number one? Wii Fit. Again. For the billionth time. Sigh. Things get a bit more interesting at number three though, with the PS3 edition of latest entry into the Need for Speed series, Shift, racing to the top of the site. Positions four and five are locked up by another new entry in the shape of Guitar Hero 5, with the Xbox 360 edition coming out on top of the PS3 version.
The rush of new entries had an adverse affect on Batman: Arkham Asylum, dropping three spots to close the week in sixth place. Also suffering is Mario Kart Wii down in seventh place, still apparently shifting copies despite being in the charts for about 200 straight weeks. The same can be said for Wii Play, which is in very unfamiliar territory down at eight. Guitar Hero 5 makes its third appearance for the week at nine, while the Need for Speed: Shift on the Xbox 360 - rounds out the all format top ten.
