This Week's Releases - 02/11/09

PALGN Feature | Tekken out.
Headlining the act for the latest batch of releases is Namco's long-awaited Tekken 6. The beloved fighting title has finally received the high-definition makeover with the promise of 60 frames per second and the largest character roster ever, including favourites Jin, Heihachi and Kazuya. Fans are spoilt for choice when it comes to purchasing Tekken 6, with three different editions to choose from. First is just the plain old game with no bells and whistles. Next up is the Collectors Edition, which comes packed with an awesome looking sweat shirt and 100 page art book. The final upgrade is to the uber Arcade Stick Bundle, which, as the name suggests, includes a wireless arcade stick for old-school fighting and the same the 100 page art book. Tekken 6 is being hidden away from our eyes until Thursday, when anyone with an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 can go out and grab a copy. PlayStation Portable owners are also getting their own version of the game.

The role-playing masters from Canada, otherwise known as BioWare, release their next endeavour this week, Dragon Age: Origins. Labelled by the PR gurus as the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, gamers can expect epic role-playing gameplay, in-depth customisation and a gut-wrenching storyline with multiple endings. Again, where would we be without the obligatory Collectors Edition? The Dragon Age: Origins CE comes with bonus in-game content and a DVD featuring documentaries, trailers, wallpapers and the game soundtrack. Dragon Age: Origins is set to hit the street on Xbox 360 and PC on Thursday, but many of our forum-goers are already reporting to have got their copies home early.

Ratchet & Clank are back on the case on PlayStation 3, winding up their adventures from Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty in A Crack in Time. Star Wars aficionado's lucky enough to possess a Nintendo DS or PlayStation Portable can get their next serve of Battlefront goodness with Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. Finally, anyone holding out for the DJ Hero Renegade Edition will be glad to find out it will be out on Friday.

And, for anyone out there who's been living under a rock, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to deploy next Tuesday. We suggest you ready those NV goggles now.

Will have to buy CODMW2 next week as soon as it is available cause it will probably get pulled by our lame cotton wool wraping country...

So, ratchet and clank is on the 5th for SURE?

EB and GAME say the 12th. JB doesn't have a date in its latest catalogue at all.

I heard the CE was delayed anyone know the deal?

Got a call from my EB just then. Standard Edition is out tomorrow but the rumour is true about the CE. Since I preordered they are going to throw in a Platinum Game for free to compensate for the inconvenience for the 1 week delay.

Got Dragon Age and played it for a bit. Reminds me a lot of Jade Empire. Great voice acting and interesting story (if not a bit of a LOTR ripoff) makes it a great purchase for rpg fans.
