Nintendo Store update - 25/12/09

PALGN News | Some holiday cheer for Ninty fans.
With Christmas Day having come and gone for another year, it’s time to play catch up and give you the low-down on this week’s PAL Nintendo Store update. This week just two WiiWare games have been released on the Wii Shopping Channel, though the DSi Store is lucky enough to get five new titles.

Title: The Mystery of Whiterock Castle
System: WiiWare
Price: 700 Wii Points

In this seek-and-find title you have to explore the mysterious Whiterock Castle and find the missing princess. Objects are scattered across ten different environments, and you even get to encounter some of the inhabitants of the castle. In addition to a single-player mode, you can play competitively or co-operatively with a friend.

Title: TV Show King 2
System: WiiWare
Price: 800 Wii Points

A sequel to the WiiWare launch title TV Show King. This version features more than 8000 questions sorted into 12 categories including music, movies and sport. Interestingly, players have the option of creating their own questions and submitting them online for others to download, plus you can also play local or online multiplayer with up to four players.

Title: Rayman
System: DSiWare
Price: 800 DSi Points

Ubisoft’s famous limbless hero is back in a remake of his original platform adventure. As Rayman, players will tackle the sinister Mr. Dark and explore a variety of environments including a forest, mountain caves and a chateau made of candy. Throughout your journey you’ll unlock new abilities for Rayman, and get the opportunity to test your skills in time challenges.

Title: Master of Illusion Express: Mind Probe
System: DSiWare
Price: 200 DSi Points

Yep, another entry in the Master of Illusion series. We wonder who actually buys these things? Regardless, the Mind Probe trick makes use of the DSi’s microphone. What you need to do is get a spectator to write down six people they know and then say those names into the microphone. Somehow the software will detect the person they like the most. Apparently you can also use the trick to reveal a spectator’s likes and dislikes, such as their favourite films and foods.

Title: Art Academy: First Semester
System: DSiWare
Price: 800 DSi Points

Are you the type of person who gets jealous of your artistic friend’s ability? Then this title might be just what you need. It acts as a tutorial and helps you learn the basics of artistic theory and techniques. You’ll initially start off with some light pencil sketching, and then move on to water colours. If you feel like being creative there’s also a Free Paint mode where you can create original works of art, save them to the DSi’s Camera album, and upload them creations to Facebook. Sounds like an aspiring artist’s dream to us.

Title: Sparkle Snapshots
System: DSiWare
Price: 500 DSi Points

An application that lets you edit photos taken with the DSi camera. You can enhance the image’s lighting, crop and mask any nasty details (such as pimples), and decorate all photos with frames, stamps, and backgrounds. And remember, you can save your work to the DSi’s Camera album to share with buddies and upload to Facebook.

Title: Me And My Dogs: Friends Forever
System: DSiWare
Price: 800 DSi Points

Just in case you haven’t pick up Nintendogs, Gameloft has released a virtual pet sim on the DSi Store. In the game you can choose to own a Labrador, ChowChow or Beagle, and then watch as the litter critter begs for your attention. You can take it for walks in the park, feed it, give it a bath, teach it tricks, and compete in dog competitions. Oh, and if you say the name of your puppy in the DS microphone it will respond to your voice - how cute!
