FFXIII to be on three Xbox 360 DVDs

PALGN News | But only two disk swaps required.
In a reply to a question from gaming blog VG247, Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will take up three Xbox 360 DVDs.

However, Square Enix has alleviated concerns of an annoying number of disks swaps by saying that “Players will only have to swap discs twice during their entire game”.

The highly-anticipated RPG is set to be released on 9 March 2010.

*waits PS3 fanboy comment that disc swapping is so 1997*

I used to love the swap disc part. It made you feel like you were getting somewhere. 1 less disc then Lost Odessey I might add...

I thought it was a nice dig during Metal Gear Solid 4 when Otacon tells you that this is where you need to change discs.

It definitely ain't 1997 no more.

i don't know about you, but i though 1997 was a pretty good year.

I wondered when Final Fantasy VII was out in 1997, did anyone whinge about the disk swapping? It at least get people off the couch for a few sec, right? icon_razz.gif

I just had to swap discs last night on ME2 and it was mighty annoying. I am dead serious - it was very annoying!!

You have to disk swap every time you play a new game, and FF is usually about three times as long as a normal game. The maths seems about right to me icon_smile.gif

The question I have which I forgot to ask for ME2 is: If I install both discs to my Xbox HDD, do I still have to swap discs?

Disc swapping, whilst mildly annoying, isn't the real problem. It's the compressed video and audio on the 360 that ensures I will be picking this one up for PS3.

Not for everyone, I nearly lost my house in 97 to bushfires (my house is still scorched from that).

Dunno why people get upset about swapping discs, I guess people are just content to wallow in laziness and become morbidly obese.

Sorry icon_cry.gif but of course it couldn't have been good for everyone, it was just a generalisation...so disregarding natural disasters, death, bombs, war, disease. zombies etc etc it was a good year....

I honestly don't care about disk swapping unless it's at a critical juncture in the story.

This game could come on 10 disc's and I'd still get it. how long does it take to change a disc?? 2 min at most; it's not like that's gonna majorly cramp the flow or the gaming time.

Molehill out of a mountain. I have both Tekken 6 for both machines and the compression really only makes a slight difference on the 360. So that's a full BD of video vs. a full DVD. It's actually quite remarkable.

Even less of a problem with compressed audio.

What's gears got to do with it?

Classic how little bits of information like this bring out the console within us.

Personally, I will admit I wish this game stayed on one platform. Getting it to the highest quality on both platforms took SE an extra year (article I read on GAF) so while I cannot ever know that the XXX version was limited or not, I dont care. I just wish it was out already.

If it were XXX exclusive to begin with, I would wish the same thing. I just want one, perfect, version.

As for swapping discs!! NO WAY!!!!! I simply cant get up off the couch once every 30 hours, or wait for an install.

Back to cartidge I say! No patches, DLC, installs or anything. FFXIII should have been on SNES.
