Rumour: Batman 2 in October

PALGN Rumour | We need the Riddler to work it out.
While we can't read German, we're reliably told that earlier today German website PC Games stated that the highly anticipated sequel to one of last year’s best games had been given a tentative release date of sometime in October this year.

However, a spokesperson for Warner Bros has has told VG247 that the "story is based on inaccurate information on the German Warner site” and that “We haven’t announced a release date for the sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum yet".

Whether this is merely a rumour, or whether the actual release date has been accidentally let out of the bag, only time will tell. Our money is on the former, considering the delays the original game experienced during its development.

SPOILER: - So as the end of the first game suggests, there will indeed be an appearance made by Harvey Dent 'aka TwoFace" and i am also assuming Joker will get in on the act at some point.

For the sake of rumour and speculation i think we will see the appearance of Penguin and perhaps Catwoman as well.

Did anyone notice in the first game how there was a holding cell completely frozen over? Mr Freeze perhaps?

Arkham Asylum managed to have a game with a giant, mutated crocodile seem legit.

The developers shouldn't rush this sequel. I'm happy to wait for an awesome game. The first was the best game I played on PS3 last year.

Doag - almost every character is represented in some way through the Riddler riddles. The frozen cell was merely one of the riddles.

The first game has made me really appreciate the Batman mythos, the villians are seriously warped individuals. I don't really care much for the Batman character but the guys he faces are freaking intense!

Just recently got the first game cheap and even though linear it is enjoyable, the second game will be a must buy for me. icon_smile.gif

I too hope they take their time with this. AA was not only a great game but a great Batman story as well. I would hate to see the quality slide in an effort to cash in. I would happily wait until 2011 if it meant getting another great game.

Thirded. It would be a massive disappointment if the sequel was eclipsed by the original. I'll be happy to wait as long as it takes if it's atleast as good as the first one.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this one.

As awesome of a game Arkham Asylum was, there are so many bold new directions this sequel can go, especially with the fact that the setting will be Gotham as opposed to Arkham Island.

I just can't wait to get into the Batmobile or Batboat and do some real damage. We may even get some cool new gadgets.

I'm holding out for Bat Shark Repellant.
