First footage of Dead Space 2

PALGN Media | Thirty, blurry seconds give tantalising taste of action-oriented sequel.

Visceral Games took the opportunity to reveal thirty seconds of footage from its upcoming sequel, Dead Space 2, at the recent Penny Arcade Expo (or 'PAX' for short). The footage from the livestream, embedded below for your pleasure, is blurry, low-quality, but indicative of Visceral Games' intention to up the action. Of particular note are series' protagonist Isaac Clarke's new suit and abilities, which appear to allow him to engage in flight.

The game is due for release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in the fourth quarter of the 2011 fiscal year. PALGN will have more on Dead Space 2 in the coming months as more details are revealed

Looks cool. Im not totally sold on the Alien->Aliens ; Dead Space->Dead Space 2 thing, and if Im correct the DS2 team is missing some key personal from the first game, but I enjoyed Dead Space so hopefully this delivers.

Dead Space 2 has been likened by the developers to Aliens, with the original being Alien. Its not doing the slow tension/horror thing anymore and instead focusing more on action.

I seem to remember when the first game game out that one of the main issues people had with it was that it was too action oriented to be considered survival horror. And now they are making the sequel more action focused.

Hmmm, alarm bells are sounding.

I think the first game got the mix pretty spot on, though I would perhaps have preferred a little more tension and a little less shooting.

I should probably reserve judgement until I see more, but so far this isn't looking good.
The first Dead Space was a great blend of tense survival and action. This is looking like Gears of Dead Space crossed with Iron Man...

Dead space for me was really well done.
I played the first 15 mins aaages ago and didn't care for it, but once I had game time with it I actuallly liked it alot.

Haven't yet seen the vid but I hope the protagonist is imbued with some sort of virilent alien stray that will be able to be used to pwn said aliens. "genocide?"
