- 2D over 3D graphics (for Street Fighter and in general for fighting games)
- Online play in some form in future fighting games (Not relevant to arcade games obviously!)
- When asked if the next Street Fighter game should use Viewtiful Joe type cel-shading, about half said that was ok.
- When specifically asked what was wanted for the next Street Fighter game, a popular suggestion was a large cast of characters, with a theme song for every character.

2007 will be the 20th anniversary of Street Fighter.
Well, this week Capcom has announced that they will be showing off a new arcade fighting game at the 'Amusement Machine Show' in Japan September 1. No news there, right? Capcom are surley just going to do another cross over game, or manga tie in like they're always doing, right?
Well, the announcement comes after weeks of leaks and speculation on message boards around the world, including an alleged list of the games Capcom will show. Many games on the list are previously announced games, including joint venture games with Nintendo Super Mario: Fushigi no Korokoro Party 2 and Donkey Kong Jungle Fever. But the list also contains those magical words - Street Fighter 4!
The news has both excited and worried Street Fighter fans, as Capcom has a history of not doing what the fans expect. In the past this has worked out well (The refined genius of Street Fighter 3) and not so well (the limp re-hash in Capcom Fighting Jam). But either way, fighting game communities are on fire with speculation.
A poster on leading fighting game forum Shoryuken.com claims to have inside information about the upcoming game. The post claims:
1) Street Fighter 4 will in fact be 2D
2) Ryu will be the only (classic) returning character
3) They have begun to work on it
4) The game will come out when Capcom celbrates SF's 20th Anniversary, which wont be till 2007.
5) The 2D Animation will rival most animated shows or movies
6) Mel Masters (Ken's son) will make an appearence
6) Based on a leaked concept sketch, Ryu will have a new unshevelled look. Some concept sketches show him unshaven.

Can Street Fighter 4 match the greatness of 3rd Strike?
Is it all true? We'll only have to wait a few days to find out!
