Australian sales charts, week ending 09/04/06

PALGN News | Ugh.
After a few crazy weeks in the chart thanks to the Xbox 360 launch, things are starting to return to normal. V8 Supercars - only back in #1 for one week - has been pushed down to #2. Unfortunately, the game replacing it at #1 is 50 Cent: Bulletproof. Quite poor - if not unexpected. At #3, it's the Game Based On The Popular Animated Movie Of The Moment, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. Naturally, these two newcomers have pushed the epic Oblivion on the Xbox 360 down to #4. The charts just aren't complete without a Sims game - so of course, the latest expansion, Open for Business is at #5.

Since there wasn't enough 50 Cent in the charts already, the Xbox version of Bulletproof is at #6, which in turn has pushed the PC version of Oblivion all the way down to #7. Driver: Parallel Lines is occupying #8 - no doubt annoyed at having missed the #1 slot. One-week-wonder Call of Duty 2 on the 360 looks to be heading on out of the charts, dropping to a low #9 this week. Closing out the charts is EA's The Godfather. A sad week for the charts, this.

The charts are updated weekly and are provided by GfK.

Ain't it great to see two 360 games in the top ten? Nevermind the fact they're also available on PC... hmm... still waiting for that killer app Microsoft!

I would like to know what the demographic is on people who buy these games are? So much quality around and people go off and buy 50c.

The makers of Ics Age 2 must be very happy. Also goes to show how many more PS2's there are, when 5 games are PS2 and only 1 XBOX, even though some title's are multiplatform.

i hope these are shipped tables, i'd love to see a **** of fiddys remaining at all the stores i goto tonight.

i'd like to think that even casual gamers are at least this intelligent.

Nah, they're based on sales figures that (most) retailers report back on. EBs don't report their sales, but are figured into this, as their sales are guessed based on wholesale figures.

*sigh*

i wouldn't mind so much if it were a good game, even if i don't like Fiddy's music, if the game was good, it would've been a good thing for the game to sell well, but for a game so average, it's quite annoying.

i guess if you're a fan of his music, you'd get some decent exclusives.

So... where are the horsemen of the apocolyse?

I bet most of these went to 10 year olds.

This is were statistics really do get skewed.

Someone somewhere will say hey we sold a million copies of 50c and lets make a sequel.

Why couldn't the OFLC keep 50 Cent: Bulletproof banned?

Considering the "quality" of the game, that should be:

"We sold a million copies at 50c each."

They were all bought by people who decide to buy games purely based on name recognition. If there was 50c's Katamari Damacy I bet it would sell like hotcakes. -_-
