E3 2006: Kirby 2 (DS) screens and info

PALGN News | More stuff then you can poke a pink blob at!
As we reported yesterday, Kirby will soon return to the DS in a follow up to his excellent touch screen-led adventure Canvas Curse. There's still no official title, but we're able to bring you a bunch of screens and some info on the plot and gameplay!

The story is your usual Kirby saccharine stuff - this time apparently someone stole all the strawberry shortcake in the land, so Kirby must find and defeat them etc. Gameplay wise it's back to classic platforming this time, but the stylus will come into play in what appears to be a souped up Mischief Makers power up creation system. Players can collect enemy abilities and store them in Kirby's belly - of which the touch screen shows a close up. You can them mix and match any abilities you currently have, creating super abilities by drag and dropping one on another!

Kirby 2 also features single card multiplayer for up to four players. We're not sure how this will play - all we can think of is Smash Brothers with a character roster of one!

Looking good, reminds me to go back and finally beat the last boss on Canvas Curse. Is that a Link hat and sword combo he's got going on?

I'm pretty sure Sword Kirby always has always had a Link hat, or at least has for a while now.
