"Nothing has been signed yet and we still need to hire a script writer," said Livingstone in an interview with Eurogamer. "The film's not been green lit, so for me it would be ideal to tie in a movie script with a game script at the same time, to have them both in harmony rather than out of kilter - which has happened in the past."
Whilst the first Tomb Raider film fared very nicely indeed at the box office, the second film was something of a commercial let-down. However, it's believed that Eidos has been encouraged to enter talks over a third film by the positive critical and commercial reception afforded to Tomb Raider: Legend, a title that many critics feel helped repair some of the damage done to the Tomb Raider franchise in the past through mediocre games. Whether or not leading lady Angelina Jolie will be involved is unknown, though apparently the actress has expressed an interest.
