Next Ratchet & Clank won't have multiplayer

PALGN News | Single-player adventure "in line with true essence of series."
Slightly chastening news if, like us, you were one of those who enjoyed the multiplayer bits in previous Ratchet & Clank games: the first next-gen Ratchet & Clank is to be a single-player only affair.

Speaking in an interview with IGN, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction creative director Brian Allgeier revealed that the next game in the franchise would be for solo players only. "We've decided that for Tools of Destruction, it was best to focus solely on creating a massive single-player adventure," explained Allgeier.

"This decision is based on what we believe our fans would want (the vast majority who play single-player) and where our time would best be spent. After stepping back and looking at the franchise as a whole, we felt that crafting a massive single-player adventure would be more in line with the true essence of the series."

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, is due for release during Q3 2007.

I'm actually glad with this news. I've felt that the R&C ames have been going down hill and with the knowledge that they're focusing on single player only is comforting. Just include a few more platform elements this time please, Gladiator was a bit of a snore.

Gladiator was just a spin off wasn't it?? Kind of like Jax X.

I think there has been too much focus on multiplayer in recent years.
There should be multiplayer experiences in games like Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, Battlefield, Halo, Animal Crossing, racers and such, but the worst thing imaginable is a single player game having multiplayer shoehorned in because of pressure from game reviewers and the community.

Some games simply aren't meant to have multiplayer.
