The Bourne Conspiracy making its way to 360 and PS3

PALGN News | Based on the novel and film.
Vivendi games have announced via a press release that they'll be publishing Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy, a spin-off game based on the popular novel and film, The Bourne Identity. It is being developed by High Moon Studios, an internal developer of the publisher.

In the game, players will take on the role of Jason Bourne, a $30 million elite agent who wakes one day to discover himself on the agency's most wanted list while also suffering from amnesia, being unable to remember that he was once one of the government's most deadly assassins. As players progress through the game, they'll learn Bourne's true identity and "experience the very moment he became a malfunctioning weapon."

Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy will apparently contain constant tension and action which will see players learning Bourne's sense of survival and cunning nature, skills they'll need to use to "engage and eliminate small armies." Gameplay will range from fistfights to firefights and will also move on to more "experience sequences" which are designed to highlight some of the more intense action moments.

“Robert Ludlum's best-selling spy novel and blockbuster film adaptation have awed millions with riveting, unforgettable fiction,” said Al Simone, senior vice president, global marketing for Sierra Entertainment. “For the first time ever, players will be able to experience the shadowy world of expert assassin Bourne, who continues to find himself plagued by splintered nightmares from his former life.”

“With Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy we are not just basing a game on Ludlum’s franchise, we are building upon the universe he introduced with The Bourne Identity,” said Peter Della Penna, president of High Moon Studios. “High Moon has collaborated closely with Mr. Ludlum’s estate holders, the guardians of his creative vision, since the day we began to develop the game. The goal of that collaboration has been to create a videogame that takes inspiration from known elements within the Bourne universe, elements that have captivated more than a quarter of a billion people around the world, with original story and game play that establishes a signature Jason Bourne game experience. Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy is our installment to the series and is meant to reside on its own within the Bourne entertainment library.”

Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy is expected to be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008 with the press release promising we'll hear more about the title at E3 this year. First screens can be found in the media panel below.

Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy, a game based on the novel and film of the same name.
Joseph you have this all wrong. There is no novel, nor a film, called The Bourne Conspiracy.

There is the 'Identity', 'Supremacy' and 'Ultimatum'. 'Conspiracy' is simply a spin off by Vivendi.

I can't seem to find any trace of a book (or film) by that name.

The Bourne Conspiracy is actually a book that hasn't been released yet, I think.

Pretty hard to do when Ludlum is dead. Consider 'Conspiracy' as the next book written by Vivendi in the Bourne universe through the video game format.

Does anybody care about this being made into a game?

From what I've read they're taking elements from both The Bourne Identity novel, and the film (by the same name), for use in creating a 'new' story in the Bourne universe.

Edit:

I care. I care that a fantastic trilogy is oing to be further (as if the films weren't bad enough) butchered to make what I expect to be a sub-par game.

^ I can't believe that the Identity movie left out the whole plot of Carlo (was his name Carlo)?

I've got a feeling this is going to be similar to the new Splinter Cell game..

Carlos.

as in, Carlos the Jackal. me either, originally, although i do think the films are damn good, in their "based on a novel the same way James Bond is based on a novel" way. mind you, to incorporate even half of the story in the novel, would require about 6 hours of film.

but yeah, no book/film called Conspiracy. just:
Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum, Legacy and Betrayal (coming soon).
the last 2 written by Eric Van Lustbader, not Ludlum.

It must be karma. Terrible books, made into a great film trilogy, made into sub par games.

Robert Ludlums books have to be some of the worst i have read. They just....bad. There's no other words to describe them. I tried reading The Bourne Ultimatum and actually shouted at the book and threw it at a wall it was that mind numbingly crappy.

That looks nothing like Matt Damon! icon_razz.gif

That's odd, the press release details a book and film...

I initially thought that the film was set for release next year but was unsure.

EDIT: okay, I misread the press release. It's a spin-off game.

The second was worse though. Book, he's trying to rescue his kidnapped wife. Movie, his wife dies within 5 minutes. WTF?

Yeah, while I enjoyed the first movie for what it was (a decent enough stand alone film with enough nods to the literature to pass the name off), the second movie was complete rubbish IMO. The whole forced gritty, faux/realism thing (grainy image, shaky cam cameras) really didn't work for what was essentially a straight up action flick in a Thriller's dress.

You can thank Paul Greengrass for the the ridiculous / headache inducing camerawork of The Bourne Supremacy.

The realm crime? They've put this clueless idiot at the helm of Bourne Ultimatum. Doug Liman may have been a perfectionist, but he directed the first film properly. Greengrass cant film action scenes..
