Gfk reveals console sales numbers for Australia

So last quarter out of the next gen consoles Ps3 was the best selling? Oh yea!!!

Look i'm not a Sony fanboy but I do think the technology in the Ps3 really is a complete package and I think it has more potential than the other consoles and seeing as i'm able to afford the Ps3 (and actually own one) I would really prefer it if devs concentrated their efforts on this superior hardware alone! So it's really why I want the Ps3 to succeed (also the Blu-Ray thing plays a huge part aswell cuz I love Blu-Ray discs).

Honestly if the Ps3 is significantly the more expensive console yet it's outselling the others (yes I understand this might have to do with the fact that 360 has been out for ages so demand might not be that high) then I take it as a good early sign that there are still a lot more people waiting to make the jump to the Ps3 which means it's got quite a future ahead of it.

bAH...grow a brain, just because something is well made and I like it doesn't make me a fanboy, I don't use any other Sony products (except for a Psp) so it's got nothing to do with Sony as a brand but the actual features of the console. If it means I only have to buy games for 1 console which makes the hobby cheaper then hell yea...i'm all for it. Can you show me where I rant about how good Sony as a company are?

In any case....you must be a Nintendo fanboy because regardless of not even mentioning Nintendo in your post you had to point out that you were a fanboy which means you're actually feeling guilty about your love for Nintendo so that means you must be a fanboy! Umm so did you even read what you wrote? If sony can sell 50k in 3 months then in 15 months....umm multiply that by 5 you get 250k....so infact Sony is doing way better than Microsoft are with the 360 and at $1000 it sticks out even more. Also it sold 1k more units than the Wii (which is currently the fastest selling console) at almost triple the price! Seriously are you blind?

So what the hell has you owning all those consoles got to do with me being a fanboy?

Yea but if you factor in what I said....and that is if the 360 has been out for 15 months and has sold 181,561 consoles (obviously that includes however many consoles the 360 sold at launch aswell) than in that same period of time at this rate sony will sell 250,000 and again at $1000 a console that's pretty damn good, better than the 360 that's for sure.

Yea I have to admit the game library is extra crappy at the moment but atleast it has 3 pretty good games.

^ Yea I know but there's nothing to stop it from happening and with more awesome games coming out and the ps2 slowly fading away you could see more people purchasing one....or not....but I think Sony are doing damn well for a console that costs close to $1000! Also you never know that $100 price drop announcement at E3 could be a reality (I doubt it) but that might have some sort of impact if it's true.

I have no doubt it will eclipse the 360 pretty soon cuz word of mouth is still Playstation brand as far as I can tell (talking to friends and whatnot).

In those 3 months was the Wii still sold out or did we have plenty of stock from then on? Cuz if it was still sold out I can understand how the Wii would've been behind 1k in sales for those 3 months but if there was plenty of stock then i'm amazed the Ps3 has been able to beat it's sales for that period.

I don't understand? So you're saying this isn't including the 1st 8 days of it's sales...where it probably would've sold the largest volumes in the shortest times? I don't understand....so even without it's first 8 days of sales it managed to beat the Wii and the 360 in the last 3 months.....well that's even better then! So yea i'm confused how is my logic sizzled? Or did you mean 8 days before the Wii sales started being counted? Cuz that would make sense, although when did the Wii launch again?

Edit: I just looked it up, Wii launched on 7th December 2006 and Ps3 launched on 23rd March 2007 and these sales figures are from April to June....so you're ALL wrong (except for SMASHED who I can see was right by saying it was 8 days after the Ps3 launched....but still that doesn't make my logic sizzled...infact it further cements my logic), these Ps3 sales figures aren't even including it's first 8 days of sales where it would've sold the largest amounts in the shortest times because of the launch hype etc etc, so even without including it's launch sales the Ps3 in the last 3 months has beaten the Wii and the 360 in sales! EXACTLY what I said in my original post! Man what a waste of time, I researched all this crap only to say exactly what I said in my 1st post because you guys couldn't get your heads around it! Bah you fools!
