Rollercoasters of Doom

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

The Six Flags Amusement Park is meant to be the home to the most intense rollercoaster rides on the planet. After spending the day there, I'm inclined to believe it.

The highlights of the trip:

Meeting the Looney Toons
Riding 'X'
Riding the 'Raging Rapids' and getting soaked to the bone
Waiting an hour for the taxi to show up and freezing our asses off in the process

OK, so the last two aren't exatcly highlights, but all up, it was one experience that will be remembered for some time to come.

Las Vegas to LA

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

Some photos from the flight. Not long till E3 coverage now...

Day 14

Monday, May 8th, 2006

Here's some final Vegas pictures.

Day 11 - Las Vegas

Friday, May 5th, 2006

More Vegas fun. Free drinks in casinos is fantastic. Great nightlife.

E3 related updates will start when I fly back to LA in 2 days. Until then I'm off to enjoy vegas :)

Day 10 - Grand Canyon to Las Vegas

Friday, May 5th, 2006

On the bus again to Las Vegas. Took a small detour to check out route 66. Got into Las Vegas around 4 and spent the evening exploring.

Random cool thing: took a ride on the Big Shot on the top of the Stratosphere tower (the really tall one everyone talks about). It shoots you up into the air above the city. Amazing. There was also a ride on an arm that extends out over the edge of the tower and spins you around at high Gs. Best. Ride. Ever.

Day 9 - Grand Canyon

Friday, May 5th, 2006

In the morning we took a helicopter flight over the grand canyon. It's a lot wider than I imagined. During the day we took a walk down trail into the canyon. We went 2.5km down the trail. It was hell coming back up. It's only while actually walking down the canyon you realise how deep it really is (about 1.6km from the top to bottom). The winding trail to the bottom is 13km the rangers don't let people make a round trip all the way down in one day after so many people have had to be rescued attempting it.

Day 8 - Phoenix to Grand Canyon

Friday, May 5th, 2006

Got up very early (4am) to go hot air ballooning over Phoenix :) The rest of the day was on the bus to the Grand Canyon via Sedona.
