New list of UPDATES for PAL Metroid Prime

GCN News | Scouring around the net I've found and compiled a full list of updates for the PAL release of Metroid Prime.
These are the updates I have found, but alas can not confirm, although I see no reason for these people to lie.

* Fission Metroids appear in the Phazon Mines as well as Impact Crater

* Voice over for intro, ending, and entering/exiting Impact Crater

* Voices for scanning objects, and adding items to your log book.

* Uncompressed saves so the game saves and loads quicker

* Bendezium in more locations to stop sequence breaking.

* Tweaked AI.

* Enemies are harder to kill in general.

* Enemies drop less health/missiles etc.

* Lava/Phazon drains health much faster.

* You can skip most cutscenes after beating the game once.

* Chozo Lores and Space Pirate Logs are different - UNCONFIRMED

* More rain, and generally improved graphics (not by a huge ammount though) in 50Hz mode.

* The game loads faster (doors open quicker)

* Most, if not all freezing issues have been taken care of.

* When pausing, you can see your % scans, and pick-ups - UNCONFIRMED

* Ice Shriekbats no longer disappear after getting the Thermal Visor.

* More reflective objects.

* Less slowdown in general (does not slow down in the cutscene before fighting a certain boss)

* Some enemy locations have been changed around (the Metroid in Phendrana Drifts is no longer there, as metroids do not live in cold conditions)

* Hint systems takes longer to be activated.

* After defeating a boss in an area, enemies are replaced with harder ones.

* The water now has rippling/wave effects.

* Log book has been arranged in a more logical manner. (generally in chronological order now)

* More, and improved wildlife, eg butterflies, fish - more of them, and the animation has been redone to look more realistic.

They all look good, but does it really make up for the huge wait? Hmm...

The regenerating enemies were one of my pet hates with Super Metroid. They might break up the exploration, but in rooms you use a lot it is very annoying. But now they're harder? Eh.

Still, seems like a half decent attempt at making up for the delay.

Does sound pretty cool, but as said it sounds alot like its being made alot harder. I mean hard is good, but impossibly hard?

It's not going to be impossibly hard. The game was obviously dumbed down for Americans icon_biggrin.gif

Hey, don't blame me if I don't proof my articles... Thats your job icon_razz.gif I just type to fast, and even when I do proof them, I don't pick up my mistakes, becuase they are mine.

Aww...no sequence breaking, that was part of the fun of Metroid. Oh well mostly good, although I do see that hint thing far too often. Actually gets irratating, I don't want to know where to go.

I can confirm that you are shown your percentage through out. Really annoying because I missed the Ram War Wasps and Mecha Hive, only realised that's what I missed when they were the last two (well except the last three) in the creatures thing, so I have to do 94% of the scanning all over again, what fun.[/sarcasm] Whilst I play hard mode no doubt.

Girls Network is only getting this information now? I knew this information over a month ago.

Trust me after playing the U.S version of Metroid Prime I can tell you for a fact that these new added features are indeed worth it. Overall the U.S version of Metroid Prime was quite easy. Having it a lot more harder in gameplay wise is definitely the way to have it. Good move though, PAL gamers are slowly seeing a plus to the waits these days, or getting extra features just because we are PAL gamers.

No, we've had a post about the updates a long time ago, but I have never seen a list as complete as this anywhere. If you had know it would of been nice to let everyone know :-/

I can double-confirm the scanned / picked-up percentage on the pause-screen. icon_razz.gif

Metroid Prime absolutely owns. The game is just starting to get tough, too.

Metroid Prime is easily the best game I own, but the wait for April 4 tried my patience even more than getting N64 games after they stopped making them. The only thing that I think justifys the wait is the elimination of the US version freezing problems.

I hate the boss harder monster thing, *Spoiler* Phenrana is swarming with Sheegoths *Spoiler*
