GameGIRL Advance?

GBA News | No it’s definitely not another lame April Fools joke *cough* PAL Girls Network *cough*. Nintendo of Spain is bringing out a "Girls Edition" of the GBA… *cough*
After we momentarily transformed into the PAL Girls Network last April, PALGN dedicated itself to bringing you the latest girl related gaming news. We may have changed back into the PAL Gaming Network, but the promise still stands. As such we couldn’t help bringing you this news from Nintendo of Spain. Originally located here PALGN has translated the full article below for those of you without the good fortune to speak Spanish.

Nintendo of Spain have always be enthusiastic in satisfying public demand. As such they recently performed market research in an attempt to determine the level of interest Spanish females have in video games. The survey results were spectacular. After knowing it came in several colors, 1 out of every 2 people interviewed (8 - 12 years) said they would buy a Game Boy Advance SP. With the older respondents (20 - 35 years) 33% also confirmed their interest to acquire it.

The investigation by Nintendo of Spain also revealed a definite niche in the market for the Game Boy Advance SP Girls Edition (GBA SP GE). 94% of the girls interviewed declared that they liked videogames, whereas 91% said they liked the current catalogue of games on the Game Boy Advance. This data confirms something we have all suspected - Spanish girls amuse themselves with the videogames; however there is currently no system designed for them. After analyzing the results, Nintendo decided to develop a console exclusively for the girls and has created GBA SP GE. It is a pioneering experience - a videogame company will for the first time create a console exclusively for females. It will be available from the 1st April in the Spanish market.

The GBA SP GE will be out next April in a pink/silver color (the favorite of survey respondents). With reduced dimensions (84.6 mm x 82 mm x 24.3 mm) it will be ideal to put it in your purse, knapsack or even your pocket, now that accessories are sooooo fashionable. With its aesthetic and elegant design it will be a desirable object for females of any age. Another amazing feature of the GBA SP GE is the size of the screen. It is large enough to have a great gaming experience, while small enough to be easily transported. The folding design assures that the screen does not suffer any damage while it is in your pocket.

The GBA SP GE uses a Lithium Ion battery (similar to mobile phones) allowing up to 18 hours of illuminated play. Screen lighting allows you to play the GBA SP GE in the dark (however, this reduces play time to up to 10 hours). The GBA SP GE is compatible with the more than 500 existing games for Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. As if that were not enough, there is special packaging designed for the GBA SP GE to appeal to fashionable girl.

Thanks to Nintendo, the console market is no longer exclusively for men.
