The only downside is that we're still waiting for a Gameboy Advance version to be announced, but let's not be picky here. After all, the prospect of wireless human vs human Sensible Soccer matches via phones makes PALGN all tingly and warm. For those not in the know, we should explain that the Sensible Soccer franchise, developed by the now-defunct Sensible Software, was widely recognised as the greatest 2D football experience available, and spawned a huge army of fans, particularly in Europe. With it's pinball-fast, fluid gameplay and cute 2D sprites, the franchise enjoyed numerous releases between 1991 and 1996. If our memory serves us correctly, the last known version of 'Sensi' (as it's known by fans) appeared on the SNES and Mega Drive over eight years ago and since then (bar a couple of rubbish 3D 'updates' for the PC), there's been nothing.
"We're very excited about working on this," enthused Kuju Wireless Publishing managing director Kevin Holloway. "Sensible Software was highly regarded for creating supremely playable and inventive games. They were the game developer equivalent to the Beatles in the 16-bit era. Like great music, great gameplay never goes out of fashion," he continued. "Sensible Soccer will add to our existing portfolio of titles and continue to strengthen our position as a leading wireless games publisher."
Frankly, we can't wait either Kevin.
