According to the report on Aussie Nintendo, the main purpose of the Pichu is to be traded to Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver once they hit retail release later this month. Once traded to either of these new Pokemon titles, this Pichu will trigger an in-game event when you trek through the Ilex Forest.
Players will have until 25 March to get their stylus' on a Pikachu Coloured Pichu. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are set to hit Australian shores on this date as well.
