Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time screens

DS News | Four Mario Brothers?
Nintendo has released some new screens and info for their upcoming DS game Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time. The sequel to 2004's GBA smash hit Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Partners In Time is once again a turn based RPG with real time action elements and crazy humour.

In this adventure, the inventor of Super Mario Sunshine's FLUDD and recent Mario game stable Professor E. Gadd has invented...you guessed it...a time machine! Not much else is known about the plot, but it seems M & L travel back in time to enlist the help of younger versions of themselves to stop some evildoer - no doubt involving the ever futile attempts of Bowser to kidnap Peach. Then again, Peach can handle herself these days, as shown in another upcoming DS game - Super Princess Peach.

The DS touch screen will be used to seperate the four brothers in the overworld (surgically?), to manage menu items with ease, and be used in battle somehow - possibly to arrange the positions of your party of four.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time will be released on the 28th of November in the US. The Australian and UK release dates are still TBA.

I've been playing the first Mario & Luigi game and it hasn't been living up to the hype...

It's supposed to be funny, but it just doesn't make me laugh. Paper Mario however is a riot and I've been put in stiches numerous times. It's a pretty good RPG in it's own right, but the art style and humour just don't win me over. That said I'm not looking forward this title as much as I had hoped.

I think this is mainly just a case of being spoiled by other titles. If I hadn't played the Paper Mario games, I would have most likely really enjoyed amd appreciated the humour in this game. If I hadn't played Minish Cap, the bland art style wouldn't have been as glaring. I'm still having fun, but not enough to look forward to a sequel.

^I agree with what youve said, but i just think that-

a)the paper marios are funnier thanks to a bit more detail(the way the toads stand still and bob up and down.cracks me up lol)in facial expressions and their actions

b) but more importantly i think the game(M&L) may have been dumbed down a touch for the younger audience which still makes up the major demo of gba owners.I still reckon superstar saga is funny, but yes, the tongue in cheek humour and general witter banter in paper mario is funnier, but probably would have been beyond most young gba gamers if they implemented it in superstar saga.

Bah, I say.

Superstar Saga is fantastic. The strength of it is in the fantastic character designs (such as Fawful, Cackletta, Popple, etc) and enemy designs (the nostalgia when you first battle the Dr Mario viruses, for instance). Its got good humour, but its the character design that really makes it shine.

And from the screens of this one we've seen alien Toads and giant pink Yoshis. Seems like they are right on track to me.

Mm, I also think the art style and humour in the Superstar Saga games don't match up to the Paper Mario games. icon_smile.gif

Might get this but unfortunately it's not a "must buy" for me at the minute.

Maybe worth am import.

Still have to finish the first one which I got stuck in...damn game.

Paper Mario was better but for a GBA M & L was a pretty good game.

Paper Mario was funnier. I think the first Mario and Luigi was funnier than Thousand Year Door though.

I think the only thing that cracked me up in the first M&L was when Luigi was running away from that ship in the beginning and the prince guy, he cracked me up.

Can't wait for this game anyway.

Many years of myopic SEGA love has left me with little affection for MARIO and his world. While I don't mind assuming the avatar to jump around, no matter how I try I just cant get myself to appreciate these games: endless paragraphs of banal mushroom flavoured text which you will be quizzed on later by a boss is not my idea of fun!
