Contact gets Western release

DS News | Atlus announces an American release, at least.
Contact - the latest project from Grasshopper Manufacture (Killer 7) - late last year became the first DS RPG officially announced to have a Wi-Fi component. Now, Atlus have acquired the rights to give the title a Western release.

Contact tells the story of a young boy named Terry who is sent out to recover “cells” that scattered across his home planet after a crazy old man, named “The Professor” crash landed his spaceship. The game features activities such as animal-training, monster-hunting and mini-games as well as having a real-time combat engine.

Tomm Hulett, Project Lead for Atlus U.S.A., Inc. had this to say about the publishing rights aquistion; "Contact is the rare breed of quirky RPG that attracts a rabid fanbase with its whacked-out story, setting, and characters. I'm excited that gamers will be able to spread the fever to thousands of others with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection." Along with this announcement, Atlus have been kind enough to release some screenshots from the English version.

So far, an American release time frame is set for Summer. Still early days for a PAL release to be mentioned, but importers with a passion for handheld, online RPGs will have something to smile about.
