E3 2006: New DS games announced

DS News | Including Yoshi's Island 2 and Star Fox DS.
Nintendo has revealed that DS owners are set to be treated to a raft of new games based on old favourites. Unveiled at the company's recently completed pre-E3 press conference, the pick of the bunch included Yoshi's Island 2 (shown in trailer form at the press conference and apparently retaining the distinct look of the original), Starfox DS (also shown at the conference and apparently sporting some very smart-looking 3D visuals) and Diddy Kong Racing DS (which we're told looked quite similar to Mario Kart, and also has the map on the touch-screen).

That's not all, however. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata also confirmed that Final Fantasy III is coming (with improved 3D graphics, naturally), whilst Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam DSnow, Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and Pokemon Mystery Island DS complete the set. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, which we already knew about of course, was also demonstrated at the conference.

Anyway, keep checking back for our hands-on reports of these, direct from the E3 showfloor in LA.
