E3 2006: Hotel Dusk: Room 215 revealed

DS News | Mysterious adventure game added to DS's stable.
Another DS surprise - Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a noir-inspired graphic adventure game that has you holding the DS sideways like a book. Set in 1979 Los Angeles, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 stars Kyle Hyde, an ex-cop on the hunt for a missing friend. His clues lead him to a run down hotel rumored to have one very strange room – a room where wishes are granted. Plenty more surprises are assured in the world of Room 215

As mentioned, players will hold the DS sideways (just like the upcoming Brain Training games from Nintendo), which allows characters to face either left or right facing each other, like in the panels of a comic book, and you'll use the touch screen to ask questions somehow. The hand-drawn character art and animations are in black and white, which makes the game look distinctive, in a 30's film noir kind of way.

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is due out in Japan this year, no mention of a US or PAL release as of yet, but we'll keep you up to date on this intriguing game.
