Over half a million DS units sold in Australia

DS News | As well as over 400,000 Touch Generation titles.
A Nintendo Australia press release has revealed that the Nintendo DS has sold over 550,000 units in Australia since its launch in 2005. Adding to the impressive numbers, it was also confirmed that over 400,000 Touch Generation titles had been snapped up by consumers in the same period.

In typical Nintendo marketing fashion, the press release went on to detail the recently revealed More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima: How Old is your Brain, and announced it would be hitting Aussie shores on July 5, with a recommended retail price of AU$49.95.

"Whether you’re young or old, a long-term gamer, or have never picked up a video game in your life – ‘Touch! Generations’ is a perfect way to enjoy the world of video gaming," said Rose Lappin, Director of Sales and Marketing. "The Nintendogs series has done wonders in reaching the younger female audience. The Brain Training series has certainly extended our appeal beyond the traditional gaming audience. With More Brain Training, it’s great to see such a worthy sequel to such an important and innovative product."

For being out for just over Two Years, that's amazing for a country like ours.

Hopefully Nintendo can see that we're starting to eat up their products and make us have PAL-AU Games, where they come out quicker than the Europe version, as we don't need to see the games in French or Finnish. icon_razz.gif

Exactly, I think Nintendo should start realizing Aust is NOT Europe and we are important to Nintendo

DS is better than PSP. Long live Nintendo.

I wanted to start the inevitable debate for once.

Srsly tho, nice to see the DS doing well, as we do every few months... wouldn't surprise me if there was a surge in sales in Europe/Australia over the last couple of months due to importing Pokémon... any figures David? icon_smile.gif

These are the figures (in the article)! I don't ever have any more figures then then those that are publicly announced in various places, I just keep tabs on them.

Imports would have very little impact though, and the type of person who imports games would almost certainly already have a DS. That said, Pokemon D/P has already sold 1.7 million in the US.
