DEFCON coming to the DS?

DS Rumour | Possibly maybe.

Introversion have posted a job advertisement for someone to help them prototype a mobile version of DEFCON. The ad states that "Once we have acquired the prototype we will further investigate the commercial viability of the title. Should we choose to proceed, we will be looking to create the full version of mobile DEFCON."

Also, under the Game Design section of the job description, Introversion say that "...the new platform will require considerable alterations to the game mechanics." So it doesn't take a huge effort to connect the dots and arrive, quite pleasantly, at DEFCON DS.

All very early days of course, and this is just speculation, but DEFCON and the Nintendo DS are just made for each other. We will continue to watch with interest.

Nice game - I'm a taker on that.

I can see this working nicely - wifi based nuclear confrontations occurring around radiating hot spots in every Westfield shopping center across the country.

Except one day, 15 minutes after you totally nuke Africa some angry kid shows up with his dads hunting rifle and starts looking for you among the eatery tables; listening for the tell tale radar blips and blasting anyone staring down at a DS.

Oh no! Im staying away from EB stores just in case!

Defcon is scary. In postal you might kill a hundred innocent civilians but in Defcon you are rewarded for a death toll measured in millions! Go the supreme Soviet we are at defon 1!

PSP version = no reason to get a DS then. I hope that's true.

Id rather a PSP version too, not just cause i dont have a DS but having played the thing on PC it seems to suit the console better, even without the touch, which would be good. id get over it for the screen size and quality.

One can only hope.
