E3 2007: Mario Party DS announced

DS News | Let's hope it turns out better than the last handheld version.
Nintendo has announced that they're bringing the highly successful Mario Party series to the Nintendo DS. Mario Party made its handheld debut two years ago in less than spectacular fashion, so hopefully this time the game can make the transition to the Nintendo DS without any drawbacks.

Whilst Nintendo were more than happy to provide images of Mario Party DS, they actually didn't provide any real information about the title, which we can only assume will feature a bunch of characters from the Mushroom Kingdom in a bundle of minigames. Mario Party DS is on the showfloor so we'll bring you information on the game as soon as it becomes available.

Man, I'm so excited about this. I love Mario Party, and this seems to be more like the proper Mario Party. Great graphics also icon_biggrin.gif

I'd rather not play Mario Party on a hand held... icon_confused.gif Kinda defeats the purpose for me.

I would only really be interested in this if it went over Nintendo Wi-fi Connection. I know about two other people (that live in the same city), so it would be pretty pointless for me if it didn't have that.

Yeah.. imo the point of it being portable is so that you can play it wherever.. but the only place you'll end up getting it set up to play with people you know will be in your house, probably standing right next to your Wii. Wifi connection for Mario Party DS will be even more lame, playing this with people over the internet you don't know is just lame imho. Its not that kind of game.

If it has WiFi then I think it has great potential, Mario Party just isn't the same without other people. Even so, it's a lot better when they are there with you...

Let's just hope it isn't like Mario Party Advance... man that game was horrible.

Very meh news. Like others have said Mario Party is about playing with your mates in person, not online. And minigames peaked on the DS with WarioWare touched IMO. The system has too many great games nowdays for a mini game game to get a purchase from me.
