More Castlevania DS on the way

DS News | But please wait a little bit.
As anybody who has come within 10 feet of PALGN's David Low will tell you, the first two DS Castlevania games, Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow, were a couple of little gems. So it comes as no surprise that the boffins at Konami are hard at work on another DS sequel to the long running series.

In a recent interview with Wired, Koji Igarashi, producer of the series, confirmed that there is indeed another DS Castlevania in the pipeline, stating that "we're doing another Nintendo DS version. There hasn't been an official announcement, but we're doing it."

Why hasn't there been an announcement? Igarashi explains, "first, we want people to enjoy the PSP version, and afterwards we're announcing it. So, please wait a little bit." Patience, people.

That PSP version would be Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, and it's due out in PAL territories in the next couple of weeks. More as we get it, folks.

Not terribly surprising news, but good to have it more or less confirmed! More 2D Castlevania love can only be a good thing IMO.

I would like to enjoy the PSP game but there just isn't enough other PSP game that make me want to buy a PSP.

Shame, I can't find a copy of the first two DS Castlevanias.

Really? I couldn't find Dawn of Sorrow for love nor money around the time of release - but these days keep seeing it about the place. The last few JBs that I've been to have had copies on the shelves. Oddly enough, I've seen more Dawn of Sorrow boxes of late than I have Portrait of Ruin ones.

Man, I'm always planning to get Castlevania for DS, I always put it off, now there is so much I'm missing. And now there is another one.

The cow's teet is getting quite big.

Ive never really played Castlevania apart from the old Gameboy and NES/SNES titles. Can anyone who is a fan of the series, tell me what it is about the later titles that warrant a purchase on the DS? I just remember a rather boring platformer involving whipping candles and fighting corny looking monsters. It just didnt do it for me back then. What's different now with the series?

^The only Castlevania's that I've played are 64 and DoS and they were both great. I'd definatly recomend Castlevania DoS. I haven't played PoR yet because a) it's too expensive, b) no time and c) so many other games that I want I don't own yet, so it's at the back of the list.
