June 6 for European version of Brawl

Wii Rumour | Oh dear..
Wiiz.fr is reporting that Super Smash Bros Brawl which was released earlier this month in Japan and will be out next month in America, will be out in Europe on June the 6th.

Apparently Nintendo Europe made the announcement at the Micromania Games Awards. Nintendo Australia still has not revealed a release date for the Australian edition of the game, we'll let you know when they do.

UPDATE: Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Nintendo UK quashed the suggested release date, saying: "This is a rumour and purely speculative. Nintendo is yet to confirm any release dates for Smash Bros."

But when it does come out, prepare to be owned by the Fox!

I'm trying to determine if an American Wii is a good long term investment. I can't justify getting one just for Brawl and Mario Kart. Well, I can to myself, but not to my bank account.

Mario Kart Wii date coming up in like 2 secs...

It could be worse...

...right?

Looks like it was unofficial though, keep waiting for an official date guys.

Holy s**t that sucks. Looks like I'm holding out on a Wii for some time.

Seriously delaying this is only going to hurt Nintendo. Why aren't they releasing it ASAP around the world. I mean EVERYBODY wants this game right now.

Because Japan look after themselves first, then the US, the Europe, then we get the scraps when the rest of the world is over the game already.

I can understand there is a process to localise the language etc etc, however I think a 5 month delay (not confirmed) is excessive to say the least.

Sony do it also. The Dual Shock 3 has been in Japan for months same with GT Prolouge...

The good thing about the ps3 though is games are reigon free so you can import it if you want it bad enough and have no problems.

This is getting beyond ridiculous now. I'll wait until Nintendo formally announce the release date but if it is scheduled for after April or i hear nothing from the end of March, I'm going to buy an American Wii or buy a second PAL moded Wii.

A massive release like this one should not be delayed that much for other regions.

I'll wait but that's only because Final Fantasy XII taught me to wait ages after the first supposed release date and because I'm too poor to get an import Wii for just a game since the money is better saved up to get other consoles.

If its true, its sucks I know but I still have lots of games to finish, so no big deal for me icon_biggrin.gif

I'll have plenty of melee time then, since I just bought it.

Kingdom Hearts 2 and Final Fantasy XII taught me to import PS2 games and get a swap disc to be able to play them.

So did Harvest Moon Magical Melody for cube.

FFXII = three months delay
Kingdom Hearts 2 = six months delay
Harvest Moon = Two years and counting (wii port apparently coming "this year")

Difference is, Sony and Microsoft got their act together and delays on their machines are almost always less than a week apart, and in a lot of 360 cases Australia even gets the game before America. Not to mention that the PS3 is completely region free and a lot of big 360 titles are as well. Let's not also state that the PSP and Nintendo's own DS are region free, making the Wii even more inexplicable.

Nintendo, in their infinite wisdom decided to ignore the trend and also make importing literally impossible on the Wii, the game fans worst nightmare. Not only does it have fake widescreen that looks like blurry, pixelly crap but you cannot import anything with Nintendos inevitable "We do not release good games in PAL regions... and if we do, we won't do it anytime soon" policy. This has always been Nintendo's "strategy" and I don't honestly think they'll ever change. Hope for a swap disc for the Wii is pointless because every mandatory firmware update will kill it just like Nintendo "accidentally" killed the Wii's ability to run some versions of the GameCube freeloader. More than any other company they are an inexplicable money-grubbing monster that would trample on your children if it would get them a little more.

In the end I can wait this delay out, if only because I have consoles where games come out on time and will have GTA4 to play...

P.S. If you think Nintendo can only get better over time, think again. Back in the 64 days games came out within two months on average. The Cube was a Nintendo PAL abomination and the waits are only getting longer and longer with every game...

Vote with your wallets, if enough people don't buy Wii's in Australia because Nintendo aren't looking after us, perhaps it will get their attention a little.

Like that would happen. The whole reason big companies get away with dodgy crap like this and inflated prices is because people will buy it anyway because they want it so bad.

Well, I'm one person who's not going to put up with Nintendo's crap any more. I put up with it with the Gamecube, but no more. In buying a U.S Wii, I say stuff you Nintendo Australia. icon_razz.gif I'm getting my copy of Brawl on March 9, thank you.

Unfortunate I guess.

But why would you care if you didn't already own a Wii?

I think the delay revolves around stuffing the PAL verison up with dodgy 50Hz VC game demos. They have to rip all the true running speeds out of the NTSC verison otherwise us PAL gamers may click on to the years and years of horror PAL game conversions.

I really wish there was something we could do to properly express our frustration to Nintendo Australia.

The optimistic part of me hopes that perhaps that Nintendo as a whole are blissfully unaware of how poorly PAL gamers are treated compared to the NTSC world.

But the pessimistic part of me knows the truth: they just don't care.

I get the feeling this is the kind of game people are looking to buy Wii's for...
