GDC 08: LostWinds announced for WiiWare

Wii News | Run, like the wind.
Frontier Developments have announced today, via a press release, their first game for Nintendo’s upcoming WiiWare service, LostWinds.

In LostWinds, players are tasked with protecting a young boy named Toku, who is the only person that can help you release a curse that has been placed on the world of Mistralis. In order to accomplish this, players will need to utilise the powers of Enril, the Wind Spirit, and control everything from gentle breezes to raging tornados.

Not much else has been revealed however, the press release mentions that players will be able to use Enril’s powers to power-up Toku’s jumps and glide through the different regions of Mistralis. The game will also have an emphasis on exploration, puzzle solving and combat.

LostWinds is scheduled to be released later this year. You can check out the first screenshots in the media panel.

Looks pretty cool because, wind is cool, whoooosh. The sad thing is, it looks a lot better then a lot of retail Wii games.
