New Mistwalker game finally unveiled

Wii News | It's not Lost Odyssey 2 or Blue Dragon 2 and it's not even for the Xbox 360.
Mistwalker Studios has been hinting on a major new project for quite sometime. This project turns out to be The Last Story and it is being developed exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.

Ever since it’s inception, Mistwalker Studios have been rooting for Microsoft. Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were exclusive to the Xbox 360 but then, due to financial troubles, the studio worked on a few low key Nintendo DS games and canned it’s third Xbox 360 project called Cry On.

The Last Story is quite an ironic title as it almost shares the same meaning as Final Fantasy. Most gamers will be disappointed by the fact that this is not heading to Xbox 360, but fortunately for Wii owners, they've got another potential gem to look forward to.

You can check out the official site here, which for now, features the logo and some lovely music.

Outsourcing happens a lot within the industry these days, mostly due to how complex game design has become. For example, I think it was with PGR4, an Australian company was contracted to do the vehicle models.

And remember Mystwalker only does the design, story and music of the games they make, they always co-devolop games with the other devoloper making the rest of the game so maybe Nintendo are devoloping it with them making it easier having the same devoloper and publisher.
Yea I always found that extremely odd. They basically create the game design document and then oversee a development studio create it.
Really? If so, wow. Mind linking me?

Well I just want a Lost Odyssey sequel/prequel, and that’s that. Don’t care for anything else, especially if it’s on the Wii. I’ve had one since launch and played it for 2 weeks before letting it collect dust. And I understand that development costs would be more affordable creating for the Wii, but it won’t sell as well as it would on the 360 or PS3. The majority of people who own a Wii own it for the novelty, not the core games available on it. So says MadWorld, No More Heroes and a bunch of others. It’s disappointing, but whatever, there’s no shortage of games.

^ bit of a slow response, but from wikipedia:
Quote
Mistwalker is a co-developer, similar to Red Entertainment and Armor Project, outsourcing development duties to other companies (including Artoon and Feelplus), preferring to focus primarily on the story and music portions of game development, as well as generally overseeing the process.
