David Jaffe on digital platforms

Wii News | God of War veteran implores publishers to do more with digital download services.
In a speech at the DICE Summit earlier this week, Eat, Sleep, Play head honcho and God of War veteran David Jaffe has implored publishers to start putting more commercial title games on digital download services in order for these platforms to thrive.

"For the love of f***ing god, put some commercial titles on XBLA. [With Battlefield 1943] EA's the first company to really go out there and say 'Hey, we're speaking to our console consumer...' Let's think a little bit more about what the consumer wants."

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Jaffe also agreed that these platforms are facing issues with many products being overlooked due to the sheer wealth in available content. "There's absolutely that danger," he said. "But there's that danger at retail, or when you go to buy a car." Though he was quick to point out that this can be overcome with marketing strategies which will help generate brand awareness.

Jaffe also added that he felt that the Xbox Live Arcade was "in more danger" than the PlayStation Network because of the greater amount of content available on the platform.
