Descent headed to Wii

Wii News | Classic shooter title coming to WiiWare later this year.
The classic shooter Descent will be heading to the Nintendo Wii later this year thanks to publisher Interplay, who has announced that a WiiWare port of the PC title is currently in the works.

The port will be handled by G1M2, whose founder Scott Hawkins believes that Descent will be a natural pairing for the motion-sensing console, stating: "Descent will pair perfectly with the motion-sensing Wii Remote controller and we can't wait to show players how intuitive the gameplay and control can be."

Descent is scheduled to descend onto the Wii system sometime during the fourth quarter of 2010.

i cant see much demand for this game, as a fan of the series back in the day i know how awesome they were, but descent 1 is just tooo aged and dont think it aged well at all. Descent 3 on the other hand could very easily come back as a classic, i look forward to the day someone gets off their ass and say, i think ill start plans for descent 4 today.

I played the death out of Descent and Descent 2. Do want to play it with a decent control scheme. Trying to do everything on a keyboard back in the day... Yeah, it was intense, but it was worth it.

The basic geometry format of connected cubes was actually the inspiration I used for my first portal renderer. I wrote the worst editor in the world for it. Good times.

I spent some time searching through youtube to find a video that adequately expressed the joy reading this gave me - but searches for variations upon the theme of 'wooooo' didn't yield much...

(this news pleases me, a lot...)

As it did I (sentence fail?).

That said, I played the original with a ******** Sidewinder so I already experienced plenty of awesome. It is a strange game to bring to the Wii though.
