New Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz images surface

Wii News | Wave your hands like you just don't care.
Sega has sent us through the latest images for Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz for the Wii. The game is certainly looking a lot better than when we saw the first images back at E3.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will see the monkeys once again stuck in a giant ball trying to collect bananas. The game will include several new multiplayer modes as well as new mini games designed for the Wii controller.

The latest images can be found in the media panel, we'll have more information on Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz shortly.

Why do people say this about any old Wii game?
^ Because they decided to get one before seeing any games, now they need games to justify the blind commitment.

Who was it that complained about too cute models being used in Wii screenshots? Better than these numb nuts.

Or perhaps, and I know this is a crazy concept, people like Super Monkey Ball.

Yes, I know, it would be crazy to buy a console for a game you actually like, wouldn't it? But people these days...

Monkey ball was released on the Xbox and PS2, and nobody gave a ****. I fail to see how this is all of a sudden a console defining game.

i got it on PS2 and i thought it was good.. so, i gave a s***... now its coming to wii, and thats why its another reason to get a wii.

I overlooked "Why do people say this about any old Wii game?" because I assumed you were being general and not attaching that label to this specific one, but if that's not the case...
To be honest, I think this "anti-fanboyism" is becoming so aggressive it's bordering on trolling. icon_neutral.gif

There's nothing wrong with Super Monkey Ball, certainly not so much that it needs to be referred to as "any old Wii game" ... or to turn against people for citing it as a reason to get the console.
(No-one said it was "the reason" or a killer app, just "another reason", a likely-to-be-great (high 8s) exclusive game.)

Plenty of people saw them as excellent games for GameCube. Great party games and a rock-hard single-player. If it wasn't so cared for on Xbox and PS2, I'd put that down to both games having been released on Cube first, plus the Cube analog stick is better for them than the less-sensitive PS2 analog sticks (can't speak for Xbox, that was probably fine).

Anyway, I liked the games and am looking forward to this one. I don't think I'm being a fanboy by saying that, either. Some people need to tone down the comments. Spanca's in particular was completely unprovoked.

(I hope I'm being fair here. icon_smile.gif)

I think he's just jumping the gun before other people start.

However both sides can get a bit obnoxious, generally it's Nintendo fans being dominate at the moment since, the Xbox 360 people are busy playing their games and the Playstation people have been subdued by the pile-up of bad news.

In terms of the game... I think they need some Anti-Aliasing.

Sure, Monkey ball 1 and 2 were good games, but there's nothing exciting for me about throwing in a few new minigames and repackaging the whole thing.

Monkey ball was a GCN launch game, right? Why are we stuck with the same stuff a generation later?[/quote]

That makes no sense whatsoever. I decided to get a Wii just after I got a Cube; I was so impressed with the current-gen system that buying the next one was a guarantee; it just so happens that it's also the only next-gen console bringing something new to the table. The comment people should be making along these lines is regarding people (like me) discarding consoles (like the PS3) before seeing any games.

It seems SMB has a bigger fanbase than some people here realise; forgive us Wii fans for getting excited over what is a revolutionary control scheme, but no trolling comments from a couple of neutrality nazis are gonna crush my hype. Seriously, what was the point in coming into a thread about a Wii game to slag off the Wii and its fans? I'd expect it from noobs, but two respected forum members? icon_neutral.gif If you're sick of seeing people drooling over Wii games, stop entering topics about them.

Back on topic, I never really buy games like this as they tend to focus too heavily on multiplayer. This, though, I may be tempted to buy if the control scheme does fit the gameplay well. After playing some of the tougher stages of SMB1, I can see sensativity being an issue on particularly narrow paths.

Well, why did you enter and post in a topic about an engine and publisher you supposedly did not care at all about (Unreal 3 EA thread)? icon_razz.gif

You entered it because you wanted to voice your opinion, and negative comments aren't against the rules. I think a few people are taking comments against the Wii a tad personally.

What else was I going to say? Oh yeah. New controller != new game. icon_smile.gif

My post was merely offering an answer to Cerebral's question. I love the Monkey Ball games. Sadly, these screens look like an N64 game, minus the anti-aliasing.

So I take it you won't be buying GTAIV, or UT 2007, or any of the other sequals coming out in the next year which will offer nothing new to their respective series.
If they offer nothing new other than higher system requirements, then of course not. GTA has had the same game mechanic for 5 games already (counting Vice City Stories). UT 2007 looks just like UT 2004 with a makeover.

However, I'm hoping this isn't the case. Surely they'll change the core gameplay of these two games so as to offer an experience that can't be achieved on say; San Andreas or UT2K4. If not, then what's the point?
They know they have a pretty strong chance of selling the games regardless of whether any real advancements are made.
Oh I'm not doubting they'll sell. EA Sports games sell like crazy and they're usually a roster and a menu interface from their predecessors. This is just a matter of personal preference.

I played super monkey ball on the xbox a couple of nights ago(a mate who owns a game shop brought over a handful of games) and I have to say...I didn't like it.
Yeah i get the point of getting from the start, through the obstacles, grab bananas and through the poles at the end.But the control was way too fiddly and seemed weird as the monkey stays in the same spot but the world moves/tilts around him.Using the wii-mote with the monkey ball game on wii will be interesting to see though.
Also the voice acting is the most imbecilic dialect i have ever heard in a game.
Mon..monk...monkey!!! the speech drove me to the verge of dry reaching.
But hey that's just me, icon_wink.gif

I dont get this at all, why say this? Just looking at the shots in the media panel from E3 how is it 'looking a lot better' Luke? To me the new shots and old E3 shots look identical. icon_rolleyes.gif
