Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64 coming to the VC

Wii News | Super Mario World too.
Nintendo UK has sent through a press release which confirms some upcoming titles which will be coming to the UK Virtual Console.

In Quarter 1 Nintendo expects 20 Nintendo titles, 7 Turbografx games and 9 classic Sega Mega Drive titles. Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Street Fighter II: World Warrior, Super Probotector and the hugely popular Super Mario World.

This is good news for everyone hoping Zelda would arrive on the Virtual Console. There is no news of an Australian release for these titles yet but we'll be pestering Nintendo Australia for information in the coming days.

Super Mario World would've made my headline more than OoT or MK64.

i only just bought OoT too, thankfully it was less than $15 more than normal Wind Waker, so i can rest easy that i didn't waste the money.

it'll be the first game of which i already/still own on VC though.

EDIT: BTW, do you have any details, from Nintendo or elsewhere*, what the use of VC has been so far?

it'd be interesting to see, imo, and whether people using the UK store is making any difference to choices and the Au stores part.

* i don't know who else would be tracking this info... it was quite a stupid statement now i think about it.

Well at least we should be able to d/l the SNES + N64 games from the UK server instead of just TG games.

Well I have a gamecube disc that contains Zelda 1,2 OoC & MM, Mario Kart Double Dash is better than Mario Kart 64 so it seems that Super Mario World is the biggie for me

Great titles coming, but I allready have the three 'big' titles mentioned and do not wish to pay for them again. Great news to hear never-the-less.

Super Probotector! Finally! icon_smile.gif

Might have to grab OoT and MK64 too of course.

I think Dreamcast, Saturn and Master System content should be put on there

Dreamcast games would be an awesome addition, but I think (generally speaking) most DC games would be too large for that. Being limited to the 512 internal memory, you wouldn't have much room for them on there.

N64 games look way better and smoother on the Wii, OoT might be worth picking up as the best version to play.

How much room does a N64 game take up?

If you save it to a SD Card instead of the internal memory, can you play it on another Wii?

If they worked more closely Sega, Dreamcast disc compatibility would have been an awesome feature

an N64 image takes from 8 to 64MB i think.

and no, you can't play the game on another Wii.

Super Mario World it is! I'll give OoT a miss since I already own he GCN disk, but if they release Majora's Mask, I'd purchase the hell out of that game.

Agreed (even though I don't have my Wii yet), it also doesn't help that I have started a new save on the GCN disc and won't be able to transfer saves over to the VC version from the GCN memory card. MM = must buy for me, regretting selling it with my 64 icon_sad.gif

I'll definately be getting Majora's Mask.

Also, to the person that said Double Das was better than MK64, you are cah-razy.

I reckon that Dreamcast content will be on the next version of the virtual console for the next Nintendo console. At the moment the Wii doesn't really have the HDD space for Dreamcast games.

Street Fighter 2 will be the title that I will be buying. I never picked it up for the SNES and have played bits of it at the arcades. The other titles I already have or am not interested in.

Double dash you could play 2 player co-op which once you got the hang of it was alot of fun. As I can play that on the Wii as well has owning Mario Kart DS, I do not see the need for Mario Kart 64, at least for me. If you do not have a cube or MKDS, get it

swiiiiiitch.....NOW. SWITCH. PRESS Z. SWITCH. yes now shoot him yesssssss . ok I just got the banana get ready to switch....NOW PRESS Z.

Dayyyum that game was fun. My brother and I used to play Baby Park, best of 20 races. The loser would have to do the dishes or clean up or whatever it was. More often than not when we had finished the game, mum would have cleaned up for us already. So then the bets changed to 'whoever loses has to make the winner a cordial.' And yes, we got very very emotional during the races starting some biffs.

Wake me up when VC games are multiplayer. Screw MK64 single player.

BATTLE MODE.

MKDD has the worst battle mode in any of the Mario Kart's due to how absolutely terrible the tracks are. MK64 is worth buying just because it has a good battle mode.

And I'm pretty sure VC games are multiplayer, Mitchy.

Super Mario Kart > MK64/MKDD icon_razz.gif

and yeah, theres a few multiplayer VC games already, so i don't see why MK64 wouldn't be.
